I have a 2012 Tacoma I’m trying to install a avic-z150bh in. I bought the metra 95-8235b to install it. After putting everything together I noticed there is a rather large gap at the top or bottom. The radio will not slide through the opening. I can mount everything the gap is just rather large. It just doesn’t seem right. I added a photo for reference. Can someone tell me if there’s a better kit to solve this issue or what I should do?

The gap is because many radios (like the AVIC) slide open to access the cd slot. This motion needs more space on the top and bottom of the screen. Metra makes their openings bigger at the top and bottom to accommodate for this.

I always used some ¼” foam stripping on the top and bottom, so you only see black and can’t see back into the dash.

Thanks I was hoping I didn’t have to send this back. I will try and hunt down a little foam like you suggested.
