    Oh man, feeling incredibly overwhelmed by this thread and the many others haha.

    I can't be the only one who's tried, but throwing a hail mary in case anyone is feeling charitable...

    Specs:     2018 TRD Sport MT ACLB on 285/75/16 E Loads with added weight = 3 steel skids, rock sliders, SnugTop Rebel, and ~125-175lbs of additional constant weight. Lifted, MBRP exhaust, stock gears.

    Usage: About ~20k a year and have been wheeling almost 2-3 weekends per month lately. Daily driving I don't mind being a grandpa to save mpgs, but would like to optimize performance for trails.

    Question: Anyone think Premium would be worth the extra fuel costs given the usage and specs above? I'm mostly after better throttle response in general and low-end torque for trails - better highway performance and hp in the mid-range would be nice but secondary.

    Interested in the 2.0 Premium 33 THX vs. Regular 33 THX (my THX options as I understand it).

    Please talk to me as if I'm a 7 year old, if you decide to talk to me at all :confused:

    I was on premium for about a year. Went back to regular a month ago. Can't feel a difference really.

    On 2.0 by itself premium was smoother, after vf tweaks, not necessary imo

    The tunes you mentioned would be for AT not MT

    Run either regular or premium SFOB. Depending on your fuel prices, premium may be worth it

    Appreciate the first-hand insight!

    I was hoping you'd reply - thanks for taking the time. Knew I'd embarrass myself somehow, mixing up AT tunes with MT :facepalm:

    Looks like I'll also have to make sure I've got the latest update for my ECU before the tune - 04A71 for 2018 MT based on a table/thread I saw from @tonered

    That thread is incredibly helpful in dumbing it down for me so far, thank you sir.

    Well I got the Regular SFOB flashed yesterday, about 100 miles in including my local OHV park today and I’m blown away!

    Very much appreciate the help @tonered @Shellshock @NorrinRadd @92ehatch

    I’ll post a longer term review in the other thread as to not muddy this one lol.

    Crazy the immediate difference. I was telling my buddies that I wish this was the first thing I did to my truck.

    Truck felt so light going up muddy hill climbs. So good.

    I second..err..third...that motion. When I bought my truck I had decided that I would die still* driving it, so will be doing anything to keep it running as perfectly as possible. My commuter is a 2005 Kia Spectra Ex the best car I've ever owned. Have about 370k miles on it and still going strong (after rebuilding manual trans, front end, replacing all rubber under the hood, and general maintenance.) Those Koreans sure built some good autos.

    This guy will come in here at random times, make some big ranting complaint, then disappear again for months.

    I've tried communicating with him. Tried in the past to figure out or decipher what he tries to say.

    Just ignore it and move on.


    We didn't "ditch" him either. It's well known and standard that if you upgrade your ECU, you have to get more credits to unlock the new ECU version.

    This standard feature, from day 1 of VF Tuner release, is equivalent to us ditching him I guess.
    He likely emailed during this time of extreme high volume too, where I'm doing this by myself at the moment.


    Same story different day with this guy seriously.
