    Hello All,

I am sure the answers are buried somewhere on TW. I have been looking endlessly for a couple days now to no prevail. I have seen some ballpark answers but nothing with my specific specs.

On this thread I am hoping to find recommendations/answers to the following:

    1. What lift will successfully allow me to run 285/75's, R17 in particular? I already have a set of SCS SR8's in 17x8.5 with the -10 offset and 4.3" back spacing. Now I'm working on lift and tires.

    2. What lift will success fully allow me to run 295/70's, R17?

    3. Why would one of those size tires be better than the other and why?

I don't mind spending a little money, but I am not trying to race in the desert, I will not be full on rock crawling. I want something that is dependable, and good on mild trails. I plan on getting UCA's with whatever lift kit I land on. I have asked a few companies for recommendations but they said to check the forums. Which I understand for liability purposes. But I just need some help, still very new to this. Thanks for any help guys!

    I have a 2013 Tacoma, 4X4 DCSB btw.

Most people start with 2 1/2”-3” front and rear. Really depends on how much you want to spend. Mild trails can be done on bilstein 5100’s and some new coils but you have to make sure you get the proper spring rates for your application/lift height or you’ll be doing it again.. this is what I did. But TBH now that I have wheeled it mine a bit like this, it performs as expected but isn’t the most comfortable. hindsight I would spend the money up front on true adjustable coil overs with or without resi.

886’s, 90000’s, jba uca’s, ecgs, Fox 2.0 resi's and Icon rxt mediums in rear, wheelers super bumps, softopper, warrior products roof rack, smittybilt 10k, 255/85r16’s, coastal offroad front bumper, diff breather and a couple stickers
Both of those come in at around 33.5 (rough averaging) so get up a bit in height, get your caster up with uca’s, and might have to look at trimming and cutting a little. Remember, lift doesn’t guarantee tire fitment.

I appreciate the feedback. I was considering the 5100’s, I was even thinking of getting Stage 2 icon, and buying UCA’s separate. I would expect to do a CMC, and trimming of fender lining, not too worried about that honestly.
