Forgot to mention that my SIL lived in Clayton. My nephew worked for the Fire Dept. and eventually became an EMT.

One of the things I am pissed about the Ex leaving me and my sons. I don't know how he turned out but he was heading on a good path last I knew. His mother and my Ex not so much LOL.

    Right on. Thanks for sharing.

I love my kettle but I’m kicking myself for not getting the 26”. I’m keeping my eye out for a used one.

Ive been struggling with temps today but I think it due to the subpar charcoal I’m using. I’m not impressed with the Lowe’s brand “Ridge”. Too bad I bought almost a hundred pounds on Labor Day.

Temps dropped from 65° yesterday to low 30’s currently, will be 20’s overnight. Not “normal” here for this time of year, mid 40’s is usually the norm I’ve found. None of these temps compare to FL this time of year, nor compete with MN (you can keep -0 temps ) I moved from IL 25 years ago, and don’t miss the weather a bit. Snow lasts a week max and gone, very little salt used, vehicles here do not rust (300k on my ‘08 Tacoma, paint is crap but there is no more than surface rust on anything)

I don’t know many folk in Clayton, I’m 12 miles from town and don’t frequent many popular spots much. I probably know more folk here on TW personally than I do in Clayton.

I’m using Kingsford Pro, temps are hanging in there now, but it’s been a struggle with the wind. Been hovering 225°-230° for the last t hour or so, I’ll take it.

I like that jacket. It's not often we need something like that here, but when it gets cold and windy enough, keeping the heat up is a PITA no matter what.

I wasn’t sure this morning if I wanted the Weber kettle or the pitboss pellet. Ended up using the pitboss. So much easier :p

Big green egg does it again. Turned out perfect and no issues with holding temperature and it was around 35 degrees today.

Wife got a free ham from the grocery store. We travelled home this morning and were limited on cook time, so I smoked the ham for her family. It turned out well. Pitfaced regular and some BS on the outside, apple juice in the pan, with a mix of hickory, cherry and apple wood. The skin was a little dry, but the meat was really good. Smoked it at whatever temp the smoker wanted to run at with the wind today.

Have you been to a TW Smoked Meet in Lancaster, SC? I can't remember everyone who has been. It's about a 3 hour drive from Clayton to Lancaster, SC and the brewery (Benford Brewing), but it's a good time. Food, beer, camping, can't go wrong.

Well yeah of course but adding bacon to things that don’t need bacon is the crutch. It’s so overwhelming that you miss out on the base flavor and such
