I’ll give you a hint, he’s recently supercharged and unfortunately has a broken tranny.

Gears can be debated until the cows come home. I have true 35’s and 4:88’s. I’m over geared. Need to go to 37’s to get back to stock freeway RPMs. I could see true 39’s needing the 5:29’s, but I’m leery after being over geared.

Mine! When it was a stock motor, it was running fine before I decided to jump on the s/c. Not saying it wasn't my fault but the auto trans is almost 200k. Something was going to give. I noticed lugging during turns when rpm was low and while on test runs, I would blip the accelerator and it would catch. My guess it was slipping the whole time. Going to tow it to a shop tomorrow to see what the damage is. I just moved to a new apartment and couldn't even park it inside the garage if I wanted to drop the trans.

I’ve been wanting to see pictures. Those tires look massive! Looking good. Hopefully you can get her going again soon. There’s a guy in SC on here selling a tranny with IPT valve body for like $1k. If you could sweet talk him into shipping, that might be a nice solution prior to going Chevy trans.

Of all the things to go first, I was expecting the rear end to break and I'm happy that it wasn't worse. About the gearing, I purposely left the rear gear stock because the hardware holds up. Not sure I'd comfortably go 5.29 unless I upgrade the front to something like the Currie F9. I'm not going dish out for a chevy equipment yet, need some bank account rehab time after this part of the build. Ahem* right after the transmission. Can you shoot me the transmission sale link if you come across the thread?

Question guys. For those guys wanting or needing o2 sims, what is your primary purpose of use for them?

Like are using them because you eliminated the rear o2 bungs or are they actual replacements for your OE sensors which thread into the rear o2 bungs?

I have a set on my work truck from urd because the cats are toast. They plug inline with the stock sensors in place. This works for me because finding someone to smog a truck with a check engine light is very expensive out here. It is much easier just passing the visual test which the o2 sims accomplish by getting rid of the check engine light.

I run the URD setup cause I have no felines under the truck and dont want to deal with the CEL.

The reason why I run shorties with high flow cats now is because I just didn’t want to run into possible problems using them. I’ve since convinced myself to just jump in the deep end and go for it. The reason however, is because I need them for my emissions check. Luckily for me all they do is plug into the obd2 and get the read on the ECU. No real visual I need to be worry about. So , the sims trick my ECU on their test, I pass, I’m happy and have a faster truck!! Another bit of useless info. Here in my state, they only test in certain parts of Illinois. Literally like 5 minutes down the highway from me is where they drop the rule.

I have nothing to contribute when it comes to gear ratios and transmission stuff. But I'm a self proclaimed expert in judging automotive styling. :p And your truck Sir....disabled or not, looks like a BADASS lifesized Tonka toy! LOVE it!

Merry Christmas everyone. I've been thinking about you guys a lot today. Well, and of course what parts I have in the mail and what's next in the queue once I have money again....

Ahh, I understand, well for those with no cats or failing cats, this is an alternative solution to those expensive sims, and this is why I was asking, to see if you guys still had rear bungs in place.

Yes, once mine are installed, the rear will remain in place as well. They’ll read what the sims tell them and tricked that all is well
