Wow, I was catching up on this thread today and was really happy about the progress Scooter was making. Then I saw this :( I, like everyone else, was really pulling for the little guy. You and Ms. Foster Lady gave him love when he needed it the most. For that I can’t thank you both enough. He is amongst some great TW World kitties in kitty heaven.

Yeah, I was hoping he'd make it too.
I agree, I believe he's in Heaven with all the other animals getting more love than we could imagine down here in this twisted world.
    Thanks for the kind words.

Ginger passed away last night after nearly six months of stability. She was beginning to show more signs of strained breathing over the holidays and essentially stopped eating on Friday, so we were planning to put her to sleep early Monday morning as soon as the vet opened. However, last night she rapidly deteriorated, and died quietly in the car on the way to the Vet ER in Worthington. It happened very quickly.

Ginger was diagnosed with cancer in late June, and after having fluid drained from around her lungs we expected her to make it perhaps another month or two at most. We are happy that she beat that estimate and made it all the way to Christmas. We were able to spend a lot of time with her while we were all forced to stay at home - me especially because of my work-from-home status - and we believe that up until last night she was happy and comfortable. If a quarantine could be well timed, it certainly was for her. She enjoyed many sunny days sitting with us on the patio, and when summer turned to fall the fireplace was hers all day long if she wished. Treats and junk food were the norm, and then Christmas came. One of her all time favorite things was to sleep under the Christmas tree in our library, and so we put it up the day after Thanksgiving. She was under it and asleep before my wife could even start decorating it.

Ginger was 15 when she died, and considering her many health problems that's not a bad number. She certainly lived longer with us than she would have if left on the farm where we adopted her, and that's good enough for us. She was a sweetie, and we miss her already.

We have no plans to get another cat at the moment. We have Henry's health issues to deal with and don't want to upset his equilibrium. We are also likely going to be relocating within the next three years, and it might be best to have fewer critters to deal with during the move. We will help out any hard cases that might fall into our lap - as they so often do - but for now we are not looking.

So sorry to hear this. :( It’s nice that she was able to enjoy this last Christmas with you and be under the tree that she loved so much. Not only did she live longer with you but she knew she was loved.
