What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Ordered a set of PIAA Superior Bass Horns 330/400 Hz yesterday, coming from Japan (ebay). Need something to replace my weak single low horn on my SR, something more appropriate for a truck without going to something like air horns. Selected these after listening to dozens of horn sounds, Seger 65H 420/500hz snail horns, Seger 60B 410/510Hz trumpet horns, Wolo Loud One 410Hz single horn, Wolo Maxi Sound

320-2T 410/510 Hz dual horns, Farbin 410/510Hz, Hella Supertone and Sharptone horns, etc. I want a traditional old school horn sound for my truck, don't care much for Euro buzz high frequency sound. Interestingly, I've found that the deep note PIAA Bass horns seem to be fairly popular in Japan these days, I guess they too are tired of the beep beep high pitched horns

That's the main reason i ordered them from my local dealership. They price matched and that way if the tabs came in broken they could reorder in day. No hassle with shipping back if damaged. I made the parts guy open them and we inspected before i paid. Toyota needs to better pack the headlight for shipping. Try giving them a call and seeing if they can open them, inspect and add some more packing material before they tape back up.

 

How often are you guys using your horn to justify an upgrade?

 

Got myself some new wheels and tires. I went with the Venomrex 602 in coal black 17x9 with a -12 offset with the red center cap inlays. I also got a set of 285/70/17 C rated Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I upgraded my suspension with some Bilstein 6112's in the front with the 600lb coils, they are set at 5/4. Waiting for 5160's to arrive next week for the rear. Got rid of the single add a leaf and went with Wheelers Off-Road multi 3 leaf progressive set up.

 

Finally got my Auckey DR02 dash cam installed in the truck. This time using a different direct power supply that's tapped off the fuse for power outlet 1. It's Only powered when to key is on. Hopefully this works more reliable than the supply that came with it connected to the OBDII port used in my old Liberty.

Also installed my blacked out EZ pass. Happy how both are not very noticeable from outside.

 

Not sure who you're talking to since you didn't quote, but since I just posted about a planned upgrade how about I just assume I am one of the ones you are asking, lol.
I don't blow my horn often, but not long ago a car started to merge right into me and I blew the horn and hit the brakes, I'm not even sure the driver heard my horn, I did, my SR has a single horn and it's pretty pathetic in traffic background noise.
So to answer your question, that once was enough for me to upgrade.

 

If anyone wants one, I'm looking to part with mine for any reasonable offer. Looks super new still(no big dents scratches etc.)

 

@davidstacoma I think the stock horns are pretty loud. Although I seen someone sells horns that sound like a train. The way people have high powered stereos and don't often pay attention or seem to care in traffic I'm not sure if even that would get you their attention.

 

But you have two horns on your SR5 don't you Mike? I have one on my SR, not a fair comparison unless you only have one. Since I am upgrading to two horns, I prefer the sound of the PIAA Superior Bass tone 330/400 Hz to the stock Tacoma 400/500Hz horns, otherwise I would just add a beepy 500 Hz

 

I have a Hornblasters train horn on mine. Whenever someone cuts me off they get a full tank drain. Not like it changes their shit driving behavior but at least I feel better after doing it.

- TacoGarage Dash Multi Mount w/ Tackform Phone Mount
- Weather sealing bed (No pictures yet, gonna post all pictures once I feel like its sealed good enough)

I also bought the Front Runner x Diamondback Rack System but have not installed yet since I don't have anything to attach to it. Might sell the load bars and get the slimline II load bed rack since I'll be able to run it without a roof top tent once I get one.

I like stickers but I like a clean look as well so I hide my stickers but they still look cool when you find them!

 

It's the tackform enduro series phone mount. It's not available on Amazon anymore (probably because of the holidays) but you can order from their website. The one I got is a little short for my liking so I'm replacing the arm with a ram ball and a short ram arm.

After almost 40 years of marriage, the wife lost that battle a long time ago. First countered with the comment that she could use the exercise, and then eventually offered to drop here off at the entrance to where ever, and I'd meet her inside. Guilt/shame ended her commentary on my parking habits.

She'll orbit a parking lot "looking for a closer spot", and spend more time than what it would take to just walk from the "back 40". Seems to be a trait of most women. My friends' wives do exactly the same thing, and most of their cars look like they've taken incoming fire!

You are right I do have two horns in the SR5. I didn't realize that was something all the trucks didn't get.
Wow dude I guess you got a good reason to get you some better horns. PIAA are probably better than my stock horns.
