Change the front o2 sensor, clean the maf, clean or replace the injectors, clean out the iac valve

If none of that has been done before you'll see an improvement in how it runs

I just brought home my 95 Tacoma. I inherited it from my brother when he passed away in November 2020. He was the original owner.

I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow. Not sure on the build date, but I was always told it was a 1995. Non-SR5 (DLX?), extended cab, 2.7L, 5-speed, 4x4, manual front hubs, split bench and factory alloy wheels with 31x10.5 tires. Its a darker silver, I think "Pewter"? Its got power windows and door locks, tilt steering and A/C. Not much else. Nice Sony stereo (but with a cassette and a separate 6-disc changed that he probably installed around 1996).

149,000 miles, California truck all its life. A little dirty and the clearcoat is peeling on the hood and roof, but really in great shape for 25 years old...

Interior is nice, except the outboard passenger seat bottom, vinyl cracking... And a few paint spots here and there (my brother was a house painter).

Its am older stereo system (early 2000s), but it cranks... Sony deck with Crutchfield 150 watt amp, 6.5" Infinitys in the back, not sure whats in the doors, Polk tweeters under the dash (with cross-overs). Sony 6-disc changer, preloaded with Rolling Stones, the Doors, Collective Soul, David Bowie and my favorite, AC/DC (my brother turned me on to AC/DC when I was in 6th grade, and we went to 3 AC/DC concerts over the years...

    Manual front hubs,

manufacture date on the truck is 3/95,

149,000 miles even (as I pulled it in the garage this morning).

California truck, and despite ALWAYS being outside, its in great shape. Custom made Redwood side rails and "Marine" Plywood bed protector.

Had a trouble code (P0402? EGR...). I'll see if it comes back. Small exhaust leak/ticking, but entire exhaust system seems to rattle- might be time for a replacement.

Needs the washer bottle (but its got cruise control, maybe room in front of the heater...).

Its needs tires (13+ years old). It will see limited use (maybe 400 miles per year). Debating between BFGoodrich All Terrain at Costco (sale, $142 each), or Goodyear Wrangler "Authority", $123 each at Walmart.

I found some less expensive, but I want something with some big, beefy looks, but not as noisy as Mud tires...

I think I'll upgrade the stereo to something with Bluetooth so I can answer the phone and link up Spotify...

    Needs the rear slider latch

I think the A/C is broken from not using it. But where I live, its 90-110 during the Summer, so I might try replacing the o-rings and dryer, maybe the compressor, and see if I can get it working. But that's for Spring.

I need to find an Owners Manual (not sure why it wasn't in the glove box, and my nephew hasn't seen it). And probably a good repair manual.

Funny, I have so many other projects, and all I think about now is this one.

TRD rear axle swapped in, ARB bumper with an M8000 inside, and a step side box
New to the forum and new to toyotas. I picked up this 95.5 tacoma about a year ago. It's a 3.4l manual 4x4 with 540,000kms and a lot of rust. Vin tag says 03/95. Just recently i replaced the rotted out box with a step side box in better shape. As for mods I threw an arb and m8000 on the front. I swapped the rear axle to a TRD locker/housing. Still need to find a new actuator though.
Overall I love the thing, just wish it didn't have so much rust....

Really nice truck. Just letting you know, I recently found some Matrix seats in salvage yard and the color really matches pretty well with what you and I have (Moonmist) in the silver 95. The trim pieces are the same color, seats slightly different.

I think it was a 2002 model Matrix. Only the inside rear foot DID NOT need to be modified, but if you can cut and weld it's not a difficult swap. I sued the console from the Matrix also.

    Thanks.

these seats are in really good shape. The vinyl on the lower passenger ( next to the door) is cracked, but otherwise they look great.

it’s a driver, not hard core wheeler so I’ll probably keep these seats until it dies...

I noticed in the previous pictures that the headrest was off, but that was just in that picture.

I was passing this along because most people (me included) find the original split bench seats are not very comfortable for more than very short distance trips. Also, I wanted to add a console, so they work out well for me.

I hope they work out for you, since it would be nice to keep it all original.

I'm assuming it is V6 with ADD. You either run on vapors or fuel gauge is busted

She is not as pretty as most on here but still running at 245k. I bought her in WV around 2002 and moved to the beach so basically brined in salt. Never been in a garage. Frame is still solid. No center console the one picture is probably a K-mart special. I actually like my cup holders up on the dash.
So many little things going on that I don't even notice anymore. Just a couple.
E-Break light is on all time. Shocked the bulb hasn't burned out. Seat belt housing sticks but I just bump it with the buckle and it pops out.

I had an extension poured on my driveway just for her. I love her, she has saved my life on icy roads, never been stuck or left me stranded.

That isn't the ebrake light that's the brake warning light

    You're probably low on fluid

Questions about the details on the truck: is it Manual hubs or ADD, confirm it is regular cub?

I like your phone holder - is it K-mart special too? I really do I like it. This is the perfect place for a phone - I had it in my 4Runner (and I love it), and in my wife's Nissan (and I love it, she doesn't ). I think I will borrow your idea.

Good to know, I just jiggle the e-brake and the light would go out. I assumed it was just an e brake issue.

Perhaps it is just the switch or a cable adjustment

Maybe too many concussions but I have no idea where it came from. I have been driving the truck for almost 20years. I forget when and where some stuff comes from. I have probably spent twice the money in gorilla tape to fix the console than its value. I will post a picture of the phone and you see if you can recognize anything.

She is a single cab pewter silver, SX model with a manual transmission. It only has 240k miles on original motor, I was wrong on original post. See pics for miles and hubs. No major make overs or improvements

Not totally sure what add means but she is driven daily more than my 2010 tacoma. I just like the old one better.
