Happy Holidays everyone! Time for a snow run for this Jew! It’s a lovely bonus to have a white x-mas. I’m around @disconnected if you want to make some snow runs. I Just hittup Gettamy rd again for a snow cruise. Only a couple inches there. B9F00AB9-A684-4482-802D-7D776F000318.jpg67EA3D9C-3095-45ED-BC03-E3B8C7F26B3E.jpg

No it’s a small loop. It doesn’t show on the map. It turns into Hardy Hill Rd in Dunbar, PA.

For anyone who might be scared, I can guide you through an easy snow trail that will put a smile on your face. 4 wheel drive will be a must, but vehicle damage won’t happen unless you don’t pay attention. Tacoma 4x4’s can go through places in stock condition most jeep enthusiasts wouldn’t imagine going. Just say the word and I’ll be your guide. Don’t be scared. Let’s go wheeling!

It’s nice until you need low range gearing or ground clearance, both which are a necessity for me. Not saying that it’s not fun rally driving down snowy roads in an all wheel drive setup.

if ive learned anything over my years of riding quads dirtbikes and trucks...it doesnt matter about gearing and ground clearance; no matter the obstacle it comes down to throttle and the balls of the driver

I’ll let you send it off a cliff! I had a buddy total an AMC Eagle because the ruts were too deep and he tweaked his drivetrain mounts ripping through it balls out.

But I do know my limits. So I know when I can give it and when not to stop. That is all experience. My parents Taurus wagon suffered greatly getting the first bit of experience.

As far as wheeling, which one of you wimps are down for a run this evening? I have to get my nightly fix of nature in. Nothing a couple good headlights can’t handle. I just need to move some firewood around right now while the ground isn’t all nasty and then I’m free.

Casparis Rd. 22° Some good stuff. Ended up backing up for 10 minutes from the ruts getting to deep and starting to high center. It was a 1 hour ordeal. 30 minutes up and then back down. It goes straight up the ridge.

That’s pretty cool how it tells you the roll and pitch of the truck. Wonder if it tells you if your up side down?!?!?!?

well here’s how I made out this year:
    BD295238-DE94-46D5-9C2A-2E60433BB387.jpg F29E5C23-1EF6-44FC-A1B5-E5E3D745BED4.jpg 4B5C6478-5D2C-4B08-92E3-118E05497BE0.jpg

In-law bought me the traction boards. Helped myself to the EE mount. Also just ordered all the stuff I need to do ditch lights and tidy up the wiring in my truck. Also purchased a second CB antenna mount to mount a rear facing light just because....not sure how I feel about the rear light and how it will work, but we’ll find out soon enough

    looking good.

I love that rear light idea. Might have to copy you at some point on that if you don’t mind. Also thought about mounting a light behind the cab on the bed rail for a rear light. Would’ve been useful tonight but mostly want it for trailer purposes and on a boat ramp.

i had tried to mount lights in the bed before....doesnt work for me hauling wood and bikes. i had my roof rack on mainly because i used it for bed lights. which was extremely nice. but the roof rack in the long run was killing my MPGS ans noisy.

i also am thinking of a way to make the light swivel so you can use it in the bed.

light should look something like this-

with a quick google i see caliraised makes them specifically for lights. i opted with another rago cb mount

so anyone here running with an air solution on their truck other than a portable tank? looking at 2 options myself and wanted some input from here.

lots of people are carrying the VIAIR 88P. seems like a sound option but you need to stow it, while not terrible is still storage space lost.

the crafty fellow i am have been looking at a cheaper solution than the "off road" over priced setups such as ARB

    - air horn systems for trucks. HERE

you can get a tank and whole system for 2x the price of the Viair and have it permanently mounted. i plan on using it for mostly tires, but installing on board air gives
you the advantage of tools if need be. also not waiting for your compressor would be a nice touch too.

    input?

That sounds like a good plan to me. If you want to look at the actual setup go to a truck stop and you can see it in the flesh.

I've seen a couple air tanks off of rigs in the dumpster at work. I'll check tomorrow to see if they're still there.

@Loco_Driver ,I wheeled Casparis about 15 years ago with some guys from PGH Offroad. Tons of trails down there. Been wanting to get back. I'd be in for some wheeling next Sunday. I've got some places out my way or I'm willing to head down there.

@disconnected did you ever get rock sliders? I’m looking for good pictures to find out what my best built option is. @PlatinumCloud brought up a good point to me on how to make sure the sliders go just past the bed seam to prevent that seam from getting snagged.
