What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Had a long weekend so I tackled my retrofit.
Morimoto bi-led
Diode dynamics switchback Drl
Meso stage 2 markers and filler plate
Blacked out high beam
Arcrylic turn signal covers

While I had everything apart I hit the grill bezel with black

 

Played in the snow for the first time!

 

Is there any drilling required for all the bolts?

 

Interested to know what that track system is that you mounted to your diamondback. Looks pretty versatile!

 

Swapped the chrome grille surround for the black SR5 bezel and added the Tacos4cheap badging.

I couldn’t find any instructions on how to do the grille surround, and I learned some things along the way. Specifically, in addition to removing 8 screws that follow the shape of the surround, you need to pop out 8 tabs (6 on the bottom, 2 on top). There are a ton of tabs behind the grille, but you only need to pop out those 8 to remove the surround. I started trying to pop out all of the tabs and broke 2 (they break really easily) before realizing this.

I found it easiest to compare the screw holes and tabs on the back of the new surround to figure out what to remove and pop out on the back of the grille. I marked the tabs that I needed to pop out with painters tape. The look of the tabs varies a bit, and their spacing from the screw holes makes it pretty obvious which ones to remove on the back of the grille. See below:

 

No drilling at all. Pretty straight forward install

I'm not a huge fan of all the bolts but after seeing them blacked out, I can definitely deal with that. Love the look the liner gives.

 

Finally done and on.. Got everything from my local Lowe's and Home Depot. All in all I'm in it for <$85, 2 days, and a little imagination.

 

Looks like the same elf stuffed our stockings.

 

Still waiting for the DD 30” light bar but I installed the SDHQ behind the grille mounts so it’ll be less work when it actually gets delivered!




Also did some cutting to retain the plastic side guards:

 

We love our Redarc, it’s performed flawlessly since installation 18 months ago. We been living full time in our truck for almost 5 months now

 

I joined the Mt Hatch family as my wife bought me the Mt Hatch panel and a new tail gate top rail for Christmas ............

 

I’m thinking that 2 of these would make a great quick release mount for a Apache case on the roof rack, but it seems like a spendy way to do that.

 

Yeah, you wouldn't want to use the most expensive way to mount the most expensive way to carry something.

 

Looks like today was fire extinguisher mounting day.

Also rearranged some stuff to put my Christmas present in the truck.

 

I added .003% HP

 

Installed Total Chaos Bed Stiffeners. They feel very high quality. Def recommend.
