I replace the blades on my truck a couple weeks ago. I finally had to use them and my passenger side blade only wipes the ends. The entire middle of the blade does nothing. What do I need to do to correct this.

I've havent replaced mine on the Tacoma yet but on other vehicles when this happens it's usually that the wiper isnt on right. Take it back off and retry the install. Check the other side and copy, should look the same.

I didn’t like the OEM ones and replaced them with Bosch Icon blades. Definitely made a difference.

Was it cold outside? If there’s moisture on the hinged part of the wiper brackets, they will freeze and not allow the blades to flex when they need to. Happens to me all the time, which is why I prefer beam style blades.

What did you replace them with? I've had very poor experiences with the aftermarket beam style replacements in recent years. The preformed curve is too much and causes poor contact pressure at the center.

For $9 the Toyota refill kit has been less cost, perfect fit, and equal or better life.

I find the OEM blades are great until it gets cold out, which is like half the year. Haha. I use Bosch Icon. They’re expensive in Canada but they work good in the winter.

Interesting, I just looked, apparently they offer two different curve styles, A and B, to address the uneven contact pressure issue. Which type do you have?

The problem must be deeper than the wiper. Are you sure the windshield doesn't have a "dish" on the passenger side?

Seriously, suspect the wiper is not installed properly. If it is installed proper, then take it back for a replacement. Could be a defect.

In my case, I've got no contact on the outside perimeter. I replaced the originals with OEM refills and I have the same issue. I'm thinking that I might have to bend the metal pieces that are attached to the blade (the 2 SS strips per blade).

I used the refills from Toyota. I played with it some today and the flipped the metal guides to curve the other way. Tested that, it was better but still had a no contact area. I pulled on the section of the no contact area and it seems to be good now. Will see next time I use them.

Absolutely agree. I have learned by my mistakes and now go with the best performing, longest life and cheapest solution.... OEM.
    Same with brakes.
    Same with Oil.
    Same with Lubrication.
Only deviation is Rain X washer fluid.

The OEM blades have been good for me so far, but horrible in wind. Rain-X Quantum is another good product that solves that problem.

Since my rig is still pretty new, I've yet to have to replace, BUT ... My other rigs, I've been replacing them all with 'beam' blades.
I'm loving these as there is no frame to distort how the blade lays on the glass. (This is especially important for me as there is no snow/ice to clog up the frame and distort how the blade lays..)
And not that these are the best, or anything I wholeheartedly recommend ... I'm sure other mfg's. are just fine, but I've been buying Bosch ... Just because when I buy them from Rock Auto, they are reasonably priced and they're at a warehouse closest to me, which cuts down shipping costs. But I've replaced the blades on 3 other rigs and just love the beam blades over the OEM ones with a frame.

I’ve used both A and B for the passenger side and honestly didn’t notice much difference.

I had an issue with my stock passenger wiper once when it was clogged with ice. Seems to be a common issue.
Does anyone have experience with scrub blades? Seems like an interesting idea assuming they live up to the marketing wank.

Never tried those ... The dual-edge thing is interesting though. I have used plenty of 'winter' blades though .. The ones with the rubber skin over the frame to keep the snow/ice out. They work pretty good. Although I think they limit the flexibility of the frame. Some rigs, no big deal, others, because of the curvature of the glass, you might end up with one end of the blade not quite touching the glass because the frame can't quite flex enough. That's why I'm sold on beam blades ... They can't get clogged because there's no frame, but still have plenty of flexibility..

We had some snow a couple days ago.....my passenger side wiper also didn't make contact. Will have to replace them. Fortunately the drivers side worked fine.
