Nice. A couple of triangular pieces of plywood may help prevent deflection of the shelf with a load since you only have one mid point support.

    Nope, I’m 5’8” :rain:

Should have plenty more room though, it’s pretty close to the original desalt mentioned.

Finished up the platform for the backseat area in my access cab.

I made the platform from 1/2” cabinet grade plywood. I purchased a 2’ x 4’ piece at Lowe’s. The carpeting is a rubber backed carpet runner also from Lowe’s. The legs are made from dowel rod and they are 11” long. The foam backing is just something I had laying around and I only used it to protect the seats. I installed 5/8” inside diameter rubber hose where the platform contacts the back of the center console and also on the edges of the center section in the rear.

Here are the dimensions. I don’t show the mitered corners on the template, but from memory I believe I cut 3” off.

I did some measuring this morning behind my seat and I'm 5' 10" and have my seat all the way back. I measured 11" from the seat back to the front of the storage cubbie. The description on the case states 13"wide, I would have to move my seat forward. I may drive over to Harbor Freight and let them hold my drivers license while I take the large case out to test fit in my truck. By the description the case is only 6-3/4" tall and I measured 8" from the carpet floor up to the top of the storage cubbie lid. Was hoping it would of been more closer so I could lay a mat ontop and it would of been level. I have some rugs I always carry in my truck I can make up the height though. :)

Yeah I like to sit close since my OCD demands I fully depress the clutch pedal every time haha. Do you not have floor mats in the back though? I feel like my case sits almost level to the cubbies when it’s on top of the mat. I’ve got the oem rubber ones. Either way, if you can make it fit it’s a solid case.

    Dewalt Tstak 2.0

Dewalt toolboxes favored by this thread are getting an update. Dimensions have not changed, however the stacking latches and metal latches are now heavier duty.

Also, Dewalt sealed the cases better to give the box an IP54 dust/water rating.

In the USA, the original (version 1.0) cases are now being blown out by retailers like Home Depot and Amazon. Note the version 1.0 cases are marketed as Tstak II, not to be confused with Tstak 2.0.

More details on the newer Tstak 2.0 cases:

I like the idea of dust-proof cases in place of drawers so I can remove them from the truck and carry them to location. Also like the look of the Apache cases so I could have separate colors for various contents (firearms, first-aid, tools, etc.).

That's a bit pricey. Please post how you like it. I did a cheap version with a net off Amazon (I used a lot of zip ties in the middle to make it into a 2 section to keep it out of the rear view)

(Copying from the other thread I posted)

Long overdue, one of the main reasons I bought a truck was to travel with my dog, if I had paid attention to the horrible cab design I would've gotten a double cab. In short, after looking at these ideas, I opt with an easier option (more expensive)

The middle doesn't lay quite flat and it may be hard for some dogs to jump up that high but my 50lb heeler and GSD mix loves it. This is just an alternative option for others that are lazy like me. Although you would want to invest in door sill protectors.

You can still utilize the space below and put it away easily if you need the access cab for rides.

I picked up these heavy duty bus bins on Amazon that completely fill the space between the transmission bump and the door with no room to spare, giving me maximized storage space.

You can buy lids for them but that defeats the purpose; the lids are redundant and prevent me from accessing my storage unless the boxes are slid all the way out.

Verify you can put your seat back far enough with these bins. I am am 6'0" but I drive with my seat closer to the steering wheel than most. You can find smaller bus bins if you like to slide your seat back farther.

The bus bins have worked perfectly for me but they are probably going away now so I can install an overland water system in that space, to keep my water from freezing in the bed.

Yes, I removed mine in my 2014 with no problem. The top bolts make a handy spot to attach a nylon webbing loop for hanging things, with the webbing snaked out through the seatbelt slot.

Here's my take on some organization. Decided I was tired of the jump seats entirely and wanted some more space for camping gear and/or dogs. Just removed everything, added some sound deadener and ripped some plywood with my father to replace everything. Bolted it down to existing factory spots, so far I've mounted my fire extinguisher to it as well. Im using the dewalt boxes underneath each side. The jack and tire iron now live in one.

Just completed my rear seat delete. Traded a semi local member his SR utility package rear panel and such and built my deck. Three access doors, two for rear cubbies and one for the sentry safe noted in this thread. Not pictured, but installed 8 footman loops for tie-down points yesterday.
