Why replace TRD shocks and control arms?

All I know is I replaced the 2012 SR5 4WD's stock suspension with the TRD Baja suspension (Bilstein 60mm shocks front, 5160 remotes rear). This road is a good test and the Baja suspension did fine.

I imagine a Pro Fox suspension could deal with that 60 mile ascent and descent without fade. That's one of the nastiest roads I've climbed and descended trying to go highspeed. I wouldn't try it highspeed with 5100's, too much fade. You hit washboards going into a downhill corner braking with faded shocks and you'll be in trouble.

Bottom line is 60mm shocks is a good thing, 46mm is a bad thing. TRD provides 60mm shocks from the Baja suspension through the current Pro suspension and it's a good setup.

 

Interior and audio but I’m upgrading that too. Ha! I also learned that if your truck is totaled in an accident it’s easier to recover the “mod” costs when you have receipts and the higher end (optioned package) vehicle. (Ask me how I know) Also, wanted the Pro to make some assessments myself. I almost forgot the first two reasons were the snorkel and color only available for this year at the time of purchase.

I did anticipate doing most of these mods.

 

I just learned that the Pro has a bigger rear axle, is this true for the OR as well? I only found out when I ordered armor from RCI.

 

This has been discussed a few times and I believe the consensus was that the 8.75 diff comes with the manual transmission and all OR and Pros.
