I agree. I got the compression ring tool last year for a bathroom/laundry room job for my parents. They are awesome.

 

I have used it with stick a little. Tig is still untouched.
I've used it at home with 220 and gas and drug it out to a barn and ran it on 110 and flux core.

I have a bunch of in-place cutting and grinding to do this week, so I decided to grab the 11amp Milwaukee

Couldn’t figure out the difference between the $120 HomeDepot and $99 Northern Tool models, and I had a $20-off-$100 NT coupon so I picked up the one from Northern Tool. Will take it for a spin tomorrow.

If this is a stupid question, you'll have to pardon my ignorance.... but isn't there a concern with welding the body to the cage like that? Won't the sheet metal tear when things flex?

 

Judging by his other builds, I'm assuming the frame/cage/body are all solidly mounted together, so they won't flex like our cabs would being mounted on rubber bushings.

The entire cab is welded to the cage as the truck has no frame or body mounts. I also use silicon bronze filler rod as it allows for a little flexibility as opposed to ER70

That's a table saw, not a welder.

 

Judging by his fabrication work that vehicle will probably have 36" of travel on each corner eliminating the entire need of a cab or driver...ahahahahaha. That thing will be workin!

yes I know adjustable/universal ones exist. Rather these were just standard.

 

In his defense, those saws are worthless to me, but the table top is perfectly true. Would make a pretty good fab table top.

See if you can get away without even using the tool, I haven’t used one in years. To loosen, just lock the arbor by pressing in the button and use your other hand to grab the disc and loosen. Tightening is the opposite. So much better than hunting for the tool. After a few times you get the feel for it.

5 grinders and every one of those wrenches are tossed in the scrap bin as soon as I open the box.
