I bought about 40 feet of 1 1/4" angle iron. Had to make sure I had room to expand.

Has anyone picked up a gun safe in their Tacoma? I’m curious if it can handle the weight.

I wouldn’t hesitate picking one up in the Tacoma. You gonna lay it down or stand it up? Might be iffy if you stand it up but hard to stand up if you lay it down.

haha, thinking about that too, laying it down would be my move

I had to move my safe of similar weight during a recent move. laid it down, used some movers straps laid under it, to assist with getting it back upright.

initial plans are to lay it down, and if it’s too long to close the bed I have multiple ratchet straps, plus driving “smartly”.

When I picked that one up Sunday they ask if I wanted to lay it down or leave it upright. I said leave it upright, there’s no way I could stand it up by myself. I only had to go a few miles and I drove easy.

400lbs is the daily minimum in my taco  I only start to worry when there is 2,000+ in the bed :anonymous:

Theyre not hard to stand up, especially at 400lbs

I laid my safe down and it weighs way more than that

Slide it out of the bed until it pivots, then push it upright

You'll need a couple friends but its pretty easy

I hauled mine in a Tundra though

Moved my old 24 gun Canon with my old 06 DCSB with no problem. Think it was about 400lbs. I did remove the tailgate to keep all that weight from resting on the tailgate while sliding it down out of the bed.

Edit to add...I also finally pulled the trigger on a Boyd's AT1 thumbhole stock for my Model 70. Hopefully that will let me connect to the gun the way it did with my Savage .22!

Be cautious about laying it on its back/side. I think some safes have a mechanism that trips when they are layed down and makes it near impossible to open them. I’m pretty sure my safe had communication on it to not lay it on its side. I rented a trailer at HD for 4 hours to move it. Lower loading deck height, was super easy to move considering the size and weight.
