Searching for opinions, recommendations, examples of where to relocate my rear license plate. Here’s what I’m working with...

I was also thinking it might be cool to mount it in the middle of my spare.

Also have to consider running the wiring to the illumination lights to new plate location but that shouldn’t be too big a deal.

    Appreciate any input and thanks.

I would put the plate on the swing out driver side.

For the lights, there are two different ways I would consider. One would be to tap off the existing lights and run some wire through the mounting bar and through the swing out bar, and come out where the plate would be. This would allow you to swing the tire out without worrying about wires getting pinched or cut.

Another option would be to get a 4 pin repair connector and use that to hook up lights, but you would have to unplug the connector anytime you needed to swing out the tire.

Old thread but here is what I did with a lighted frame since I will have no spot when I put on my new bumper.

Any issue with the police when the tail gate is down? I've thought of relocating my license plate to my tailgate so I can install a high clearance bumper, but would be afraid of getting pulled over as I do drive from time to time with my tailgate down when hauling something long. Most recently I drove from NH to VA with my tailgate down as I had some interior doors laying flat in the bed; the chances of getting pulled over on such a long trip would seem to be especially high going through multiple states. I guess I could have an alternate license plate mount on my bumper for those type of occasions.

    Not legal in all states.

I don’t have a carrier but I have a removable hitch lift. When in place I just use some tie wraps to connect it to the bottom of the lift. I haven’t had any issues regarding lighting.
