I think the Ford version is going to be called a Maverick or Courier and the Hyundai is just basically an SUV with the roof cut off the back.

    Congrats.

You might want to search for Super white paint threads here so you can be eagle eyeing any potential issues.

I wasn’t aware of the Super White paint issue... damn... I wish I’d gone with a different color now. From the quick search I did, still too early to tell if the 2020/2021 will have an issue...

If you don't mind, I am curious. Was there something wrong with the RAV that made you go back? What were the defining dislikes that made you get rid of it? I ask because my neighbor has one of the new ones ... and I have to say it looks pretty darn good. But then again, I have my eye on the new Genesis SUV ...

It is going to be very interesting. For those of us that love business strategy, this is going to be fun to watch as it plays out. Ford will have to clearly position the new Maverick small truck, the Bronco and the Ranger ... all at the low to middle of the truck market.

@TacoBuffet ... have you seen this?

That very first picture is not all that hateful, kind of reminds me of what the Hyundai version that they are supposedly doing. I wonder how they are going to market that too, maybe they are not expecting any traditional truck buyers to go for it.

I will admit I am having a bit of buyers remorse at the moment, it was a great vehicle...

I had a couple of reasons...
    - One of the reasons was that I got a dirt bike and had to rely on my buddy to go dirt biking.
    - I love the feeling of driving a truck!
    - I also mountain bike/hike and some places couldn’t get to in the RAV
    - Silly reason, but it felt like a mom car
    - I do woodworking on the side and it’s just easier with a truck, although the RAV was ok if I cut the wood down and folded the seats
    - Tacomas hold their value better long term
    - hybrid felt underpowered with 3 people going up mountains

Things I liked about the RAV
    - mpg
    - nice, spacious interior
    - I think it’s a great looking crossover compared to say the CRV or Forester

If I could’ve kept both, I would’ve ! They’re just so hard to compare and both are good for different things. If I didn’t dirt bike I could’ve just kept the RAV but every time I saw a Tacoma, my head would turn. It was a tough choice to make!

I apologize to the OP for pushing this conversation in a different direction. :). But I would love to see the product strategy on this new truck. Let's see. We own the big truck market with the F150. We will try to poke at the Tacoma with the new Ranger (not going that well, I assert). We are going to take on Jeep with the Bronco -- very interesting but off to a slow start. And now ... we are going to have a smaller, low end truck do what exactly? Not rendering any judgement. They must have some data driving this product development. Just curious as to what they are thinking and why ...

Agree with you ... not a terrible looking truck. But that may be an early rendering. I confess I thought the renderings of the Ranger were nice but when I saw the Ranger in person for some reason the design didn't work that well ... Something about the bed, the squareness of it just doesn't work for me. But that is must me ...

I see. That makes a lot of sense ... and given those needs, the Tacoma is a far better fit for you. Not a knock on the RAV.

I agree with you it is a good looking car. Especially since the new model. They really made it so much better from a design perspective. I was a long time Saab driver (still miss those cars) and we jumped over to Subaru for many years. Finally, we just couldn't take the flat out ugliness of the designs. Every year we hoped the design would improve but no ... Subaru had to try to make it look worse ... I mean look at the Forester. It is like they are not even trying ...

Don't really like the Ranger either, it has the skinny and tall euro look that trucks seem to be taking which is just weird with those big bedsides. Considering that they put practically no effort in it for the US Market, it does seem to be a halfway moderate success as l believe it leapfrogged the Colorado to be in a far distant 2nd place in sales behind the beloved Tacoma. Market research seems to be that people are ditching cars for SUV's and Trucks, my guess is that prices for Full Size and now Mid Sized are getting pretty expensive leaving a slot for a lower priced Trucklet of some kind.

No no no. Don't think like that. I'm sure you will be fine. Just keep an eye out for it and if you have a problem the dealer should fix it under warranty. I have the T-shirt to prove it lol.

    Information is power.

My wife has a Rav and I have the Taco, everything you said is pretty accurate. The Rav is an excellent vehicle, but it's not a Taco.

I have not. I was aware they were bringing in another compact / mid size truck, reminds me of a sport trac, Im perplexed why Ford is adding more models into similar / same segments that can take sales from their other models (i.e. ranger and maverick, escape and bronco sport, etc.), seems like a poor business move in my opinion, but eh.

Agree. I don't understand it either. I would love to see the data they are basing this on. According to one article:

?Production of the new model will take place at the Ford Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico, which is also the birthplace of the new Bronco Sport. Expect a launch in mid-2021 as a 2022 model."

That said, I saw my first Bronco today. Was doing some errands and saw it on the lot at a Ford dealer. Didn't get too close but it looked great ! :)

Could be a rolling shell of the Bronco.. possibly a pre-prod.
They aren't expected on dealer lots until at least Late Spring/Summer '21.

Yes sir, dealers are probably loving all the attention. I don't blame them.
If I didn't need an actual truck, my money would have been spent on that MT Bronco 2 Door.
