    Well,

    happy I found this site.

But I just inherited my older brother's 1995 Tacoma when he passed away in early November 2020. It wasn't COVID related, just passed peacefully from a stroke (hemorhage?, not a clot). One moment he was there, and a few minutes later he was gone... H ewas only 58, and I am 53.

He was the original owner of this 1995 Tacoma 4x4. 2.7 L, manual 5-speed, DLX? (its not an SR5). Split bench. I forget the color name, but a dark silver (Pewter?). Power windows, power locks (but no remote access) tilt and A/C but I think thats about all. He used to keep it so clean, but the pass few years it has finally started to show its age. Still a really nice truck, with the factory 15" alloys and 31x10.5 tires (well, the tires were replaced).

Only 149,000 miles on it, and I just drove it home tonight (I live 120 miles away)... California vehicle, so no known rust (some on the top of the replacement front chrome bumper). Never any significant damage (just our elderly mother backing into the Tacoma with her Lincoln Navigator and denting the original bumper. My brother blamed the recent rust on the "cheap" replacement bumper.

I plan to use it as a second vehicle, and a truck (pick up a load of bark/manure, maybe some furniture or an old engine)... I currently have a 1997 S10 (2WD, extended cab, V6 auto), and while it runs great, the interior plastic is failing, headliner falling and the clearcoat has failed on the hood and roof. I have only put about 20,000+ miles on the S10 in 18 years (117,000 miles, runs great), but I seriously only put about 100-150 miles per year now (last 12 years). My tires are 12.5 years old, and have less than 5,000 miles on them

Ironically, the tacoma also has failing clearcoat, and needs tires due to age... And both trucks have broken A/C...

Anyway, I like the looks of the Tacoma better, especially the early headlights on the 4x4.

    Tony

I’m sorry to hear about your brother tony. But you’ve found a second family in Tacomaworld 100%.
Many on this site go out of their ways to help others. Whether it’s getting the A/C working on what sounds like a Cherry Tacoma, or helping each other with personal struggles this site has been like family to me over the years.
    Welcome to Tacomaworld !

ps. Let’s see some pictures of this beautiful truck!

Sorry for your loss. I lost my brother about 10 years ago, and it still hurts. Also lost one of my good friends to a stroke a few years ago, and that sucks too.

Enjoy the Tacoma. Your brother would be happy it stayed in the family.

Sorry that you lost your brother, Tony. I inherited my Dad's truck earlier this year. Didn't really want/need it, but I'll hang onto it since it was my Dad's. His old truck is a pleasant reminder of him any time I drive it...
