Your favorite tie down straps...?

I am always curious different tie down methods people use in a search for bettering my process for securing loads. I use the standard ratchet straps from the box stores that are cheap, have never failed, but I generally find them annoying. My loads are lumber, sheet goods, construction/carpentry materials and surfboards

So what are your fav tie down solutions out there!

RATCHET STRAPS CAN GET FUCKED. I hate them, so many times I've pinched fingers or cut myself.

They make diff size ones, but I LOVE THEM. Have had some for 3+ years, still in great shape. There are knock off cheaper ones, THEY FUCKING SUCK. Get the real ones.

 

I like ratchet straps. Been using the same set for years. Never had any issues. Use them when moving, hauling two 13FT Kayaks. Small stull I go bungees.

Cheap ratchets for life.

Unless I'm feeling nostalgic. Sometimes I like to use basic nylon rope with a good old fashioned trucker's hitch.

 

I use old school round and square yakima and thule bars and just wish that with the common ratchet straps either the hook would fit around the cross members or at least they would make a loop for the hook to catch when it loops. I ended up buying a set of soft loops which work great in most cases but also an extra little strap to carry around

Cam buckle straps and Voile straps for me, ratchet straps have their place, but I hate using them. Rok Straps are another option. I suspect 3 voile straps would be strong enough to hold a high-lift type jack, even off road, vertically or horizontally.

As a lifelong sailor i use the trucker’s hitch when i need to synch something down

 

I prefer the cam type straps.

For other stuff cartman 1.5” x 15 padded ratchet tie downs

 

I use Vulcan pro series for strapping down kubota tractor, anything else I use the hd rhino straps.

 

after getting several self-retracting ratchet straps i never use generic cheap ones anymore

overall, I hate ratchet straps, but they do have their place. They work well for matresses or stuff that don't really matter, but releasing them just sucks ass. I tend to really prefer cam-lock straps.

But mostly the strap you use depends a lot on what you are using the strap on. Since I do a lot with motorcycles, IMHO, the worlds greatest cam-lock strap is the Pro Tapers.
