I really wish I had gotten into Toyota trucks years ago. This little first year Tacoma I have has already made up for its value. I hunt out of this truck in the mountains and I daily drive it. It’s taken everything I’ve thrown at it and then some. Looking to get a new Tacoma soon seeing as I can’t haul the whole family in this one. Glad to be here.

Everything will break if pushed hard enough or not maintained well. It's just that some break easier than others.

Be careful in assuming a new version will perform the same as an old one. Sometimes simple is better. Gee whizz gadgets and cupholders may be nice, but they don't bring you home.

I should have added that you have a great example of the genre, and welcome to the board.

PS, not disgruntled. All my stuff is several years old. :D

    Love that 1st gen!

Since you mentioned getting a newer Tacoma for the family, I think Bill is referring to the impression that seemingly everyone loves the first gen Tacoma whereas the 2016 and up version has many detractors.

Before you leap, read up. Then read some more. Then read again.

Then you'll know what to look for when you test drive, test drive, then test drive some more.
