Anyone try this shovel yet? Looks solid but would some feedback on durability if anyone has tried it.

Here's what I've said about this before
I find it interesting that the description on amazon is thus:
    • 【MULTI-FUNCTION】- Digging, Sawing, Chopping, Cutting, Picking, Prying, Hammering, Bottle opening, Shoveling.High quality steel material, can peel animal skins, scale fish phosphorus, cut the rope;Magnesium and whistle:2.95inch magnesium rod, easy to make fire.
    My questions would be:
    1. Do you really want to use a shovel to saw something? I don't.
    2. How are you going to fit the shovel somewhere you need a pry bar? Seems a bit large for that.
    3. Do you already have a hammer in the truck? I do.
    4. No bottle opener, or do you just want to break out the shovel every time you crack open a cold one?
    5. Oh look, shoveling. Listed fifth. For a shovel.
    6. Peeling animal skins and scaling fish. C'mon now, this is a joke, right?
I generally find that an actual, normal, shovel seems to work best. No need for a 42-in-one device for digging.

@turbodb - Thanks for the input, all great points. I like the idea of it because it’s like a Swiss Army knife in functionality and I thought it would a good tool in to have around for some menial tasks or uses. Oh well... a plan shovel is cheaper and probably more reliable.

When I got stuck in the snow hiking in January, I pulled my trusty compact shovel which I'd last used to dig a hasty fighting position in a field exercise in my youthful Army days. You know how short the handle was? Too short. But it could do so many things, including sawing a tree, folding into thirds, etc., etc. Just not reach under the truck unless I was down in the snow beneath my rig. I learned my lesson. When needed, bring the actual tool. In February, when I got stuck in the snow again (different state, mountain range and weather but same idiot hiker), I pulled a real shovel and dug my way out from the side of the hill (no winch friendly trees to be had). Moral: Don't be a hipster! The mall crowd will love the shiny toy, but I'll take my rusty, trusty, short-handled spade anytime.

Admittedly, i saw the video on this shovel and my mall crawling hipster instincts kicked in :anonymous:. I’m back to reality now at least until i see the next new shiny object.

Like all multi-tools it might be passable for many tasks. But, it will never master any. You will end up working harder and be more frustrated. You've got an off road vehicle. There should be plenty of room for individual pioneer tools. Unless you're driving one of those RTT things due to FOTG (Fear Of The Ground) syndrome.

Something like that belongs in a zombie apocalypse bug out bag, not in a 4x4.

We have room to fit a normal shovel, an actual saw and some screwdrivers.

And if you don't know at least 12 places on your truck to open a beer bottle, you need to have your license taken away.

This is almost as bad as the thread about the $250 shower curtain. :facepalm:Mention the words "baby" or "wedding" and get ready to pay 1000 bucks for something that should cost 10. Mention the word "tactical" or "overland" and happily pay 100 bucks for a shovel.
What the hell is wrong with carrying a $15 craftsman?

Apparently, accessorizing your "Overlanding Gear" is more important than functionality.

Accessorizing is 2nd only to a proper hashtag.

Best to put your tag in a prominent place, like in Kane Canyon, a-la tacomabeast infamy.
