Trying to track this. Any 2010+ trucks actually qualified for a frame replacement? I was following the mega thread about it in the past, but can’t find it now. Love my truck to death, but I’ve got one more year before it’s out of warranty so running some scenarios right now.

I just bought an '11 from a Toyota dealership. I couldn't pick it up until they did the replacement. Honestly, the frame and underside of the truck looked fine to me. Better than other Tacos I looked at.... Oddly enough, when I picked it up, lots of other parts had been replaced and have stickers on them too.

Would love to hear about your scenarios.......I’ve got a 2010 DCSM and here in Houston, unless your truck came from the NE or Great Lakes, before they even look at it, they’re convinced you don’t have any.......thinking about contacting Toyota Corporate in Dallas

I’m in Wisconsin, so assumption is my frame will fail, haha. I’m born and raised anti-lease, but with the 80+% residual values right now, it seems like a no brainer to lease for 3 years then buy the truck for cheaper than buying a used 3 year old truck. If the numbers make sense, it might be worth it...we’ll see.

Wow, that seems like a great idea, if it works out.

I think you're going to find that Toyota knows this and has baked it into the Residual Value on the leases already. There's no way they're going to lose money on either the lease or the follow up sale of the off-lease vehicle as a used vehicle. If what you suggested were true, everybody would be doing it. Nice thought though.

I’ve been sniffing around on leasehacker and seems like quite a few are already doing this. The best option is the double cab 4x4 SR model, but if I’m getting a new truck it’s going to be a TRDOR.

Edit: you are absolutely correct on Toyota knowing this, that’s why you can lease a new Tacoma so cheaply right now. Most cars lease about 10% of MSRP per month. Tacos are leasing under $200 pretty regularly.

2010 here also had frame replaced two years ago. Didn’t cost me one cent except for the gas for the loaner they gave me

Failed two 2011’s this week! All in the system for fresh frames now. Only a matter of time before we start seeing 12’s and 13’s scary to think about lol. These truck frames were so weak at the cab mount i scratched through it by hand with a flat head :(
