So, i ordered Torro RTT it measures 6'4 length and the bed of my truck only measures 5'. I have a Lietner bed rack to support it.

    I have 2 plans:

1st is to have the remaining 1'4" be divided, so I might have 6" sticking out from the back of my truck and the other 8" sticking out on the roof of the cab. I am also planning to buy a Prinsu rack to support the remaining 8" that is sticking out.

2nd, is to have the whole 1'4" sticks out on the roof of the cab, since I am planning to buy a prinsu rack, it will support it anyways.

The problem is, I am not sure if I should mount the RTT on the roof rack that I will buy. because somebody told me that the bed of the truck and the cab, do not move the same way at the same time. Meaning, if I mount the rtt on the roof rack, it might possibly bend it. But if i don't mount it, I am thinking that every time that i hit a rough spot, the RTT might hit the roof rack hard and eventually break it also.

Any inputs from an experience overlander here? Thank you.

Typically, as long as the tent mounts are approx equal spacing, you don't need to support the entirety of the tent. Your tent won't (or at least shouldn't) move to the degree that it is able to break a sturdy rack such a a Prinsu.

Secondly, yes, your truck cab and bed do have some degree of independent movement, so mounting your tent to your roof AND your bed rack could spell trouble down the line.

Thank you! maybe I am just being overprotective of my RTT. lol. I can't afford another one that's for sure that's why I need to mount it right. lol

What are your thoughts on the Skylux? Quality, ease of setup. I like the dimensions and weight on it, but trying to figure out if I should just spend the extra $$ for the iKamper Mini.
