    Hello all,

I'm likely going to buy my first pickup since my 1991 Toyota DX (one of my favorite vehicles ever).

It's going in for inspection tomorrow.

Anything I should have them look for? I'm planning to ask them to look specifically for frame rust, 4WD issues, brakes.

It has 125,000 miles in MN. :)

Check for rust yourself. Use a ball peen hammer and tap areas looking for soft spots. Around shock tower mounts and brace joints and anywhere salt collects. Driver side will be worse.

I think vehicle a s service history tells you more than an inspection does, but an inspection is good peace of mind.

Who's doing the inspecting? An independent shop?

The rust is #1 IMHO. The frame needs to be whacked with a ball peen, probed with a pointy pry bar and inspected inside with a borescope.

Assuming you are not a welder with the ability to install frame patches properly, if the frame is toasty, the rest of any inspection is a waste of time.

    Good luck!

    Thanks for the advice.

Independent shop and they are going to check the frame first and abort if it looks bad.
