new poster, looking to modify my tacoma so i can have my dog sit shotgun without having the seatbelt beeping going. Ive tried leaving the seatbelt buckled but it makes the dog uncomfortable. I'm open to cutting wires but would prefer a programming fix of some sort. thanks

Got my dealer to do it for me.

They were hesitant, as they didn't want the liability, I brought them the manual saying it was an option to have it done and said the liability would be on toyota for even having that as an option. They agreed and when I got the receipt it said they changed some light timer settings, but the seatbelt chimes were disabled. (They still chime a couple times and have a light in the cluster but they don't continue to ding).

I have a seat belt extender for when I thrown my duffle bag in the front seat. It is called an extender, but it is cheap metal and I won't use it in conjunction with the actual seat belt. But it does turn off the warning tones and flashing light in the dash board. I got it real cheap on eBay.

I was just going to suggest one of these.
Just put one in my mom's car for dad on the passenger side but it is certified for use and was only like $30

I know it’s not the ‘manly’ thing to do but harnessing your dog in and using a seatbelt is the smartest thing you can do. :crapstorm: It sounds like a PITA but you’ll get used to it quickly and so will your dog.

That is because people insist on using them without a harness. Common sense not to just put it on a collar.

    Stock, 4WD, Access Cab, White,
Must be used with a harness.

Otherwise, an accident could seriously injure the dog's neck with the tether attached to a collar.
