Replaced the blown out Mark Levinson 6x9s in the door this morning. Went with a 6.5" woofer to add some much needed bass to the ML system. Turned out sounding pretty good! Luckily the ML subwoofer in the back wasn't shot but it doesn't put out much bass anyways. The JBL system in my 4Runner sounded much better.

Went with Dayton Audio 6.5" woofers, it's hard to find speakers in 8 ohm

Metra speaker adapters, they fit perfectly in the door. Had to trim the inner tabs to fit the 6.5"

And used Metra speaker connectors, Amazon says they don't fit the GX, but they do. Had to connect a wider spade for the negative side though. Since the Daytons negative tab was the same width as the positive. Not you standard car audio size. You could probably use the old ML connector and crimp on some spade connectors, but I happened to have a set of these sitting around.

I desperately need to do that to mine. Tried replacing the foam but the driver was shot.

Dayton Audio makes better 6.5" 8ohm woofers but these meet my needs.
Parts Express is a good place to find 8ohm speakers. Mainly because it's home audio stuff. Thanks Lexus!

Yeah I bought 8 ohm Dayton mids/tweeters off there and they sound pretty great.

I tried to basically match the OEM specs for the ML for rms. And tweets being apparently 6ohm?

Got the Prinsu on today, other than blacking out the chrome I think I’m done for a while. The Tacoma is feeling neglected

@captrussia253 what window vents do you have there? Are they in the channel?

Weathertech. Yes they install in the channel. I don’t like the ones that you have to tape to the outside.

Same, I’ll have to pick those up. I have avs in channel on my Tacoma but most of the GX offerings tape outside which I don’t like at all
