Hello TW! Long time creeper and decided to make an account finally.

Purchased my 05 AC last fall with 48k on the odometer and absolutely love it. Amazing little rig, and has served me well on my adventures. Have already researched mods for this truck and have more to do!

    Day I bought it:

Not the greatest to be honest but it’s not Swiss cheese either. There’s some signs that it will likely need to be replaced in the future. Bought it in WY and by the miles, it sat in the garage a lot. Some surface imperfections on the body so it was used for its intended purpose.

Taco frames rust from inside Box frame members. Need a 360° wand extension to spray heavily inside.
Coroseal rust converter works wonders inside and outside frame.

Figured I would post a few updates on the build.

Back in November, I went back home to see the folks for Thanksgiving. Mother wanted some cedar branches for decoration and so we decided to head on up the mountain to cut some up.

    Fremont hill.jpg

Well on the way back, as we were cruising down the highway, disaster struck. Apparently in the middle of the day those big rutting mountain muleys like to run across the road. SMACK!

Smoked a 5x5 rutting buck at 1:30 in the afternoon with the sun shining. Sucker ran out of the ditch on the uphill side of a corner. Luckily the airbags did not deploy and myself and mother were just fine. The crappy thing was, is that I had literally 250 miles on my brand new lift and tires. I was praying that the insurance didn't total the truck as some friends brought a car hauler up to bring it into town. It drove onto the trailer, even though the fan was hitting the radiator pretty good. The next day, I rented a car and drove back to SLC.

Insurance did not total the truck! (10K in damages) So I decided it was time to upgrade the front end of the rig. Got an aluminum All Pro APEX full hoop bumper and skid plate on sale for thanksgiving since it was in stock.

Went ahead and added some sliders that a guy was building local in SLC. Was going to go with bolt on, but figured what the heck lets just weld em on and be done with it. Spray painted them with some hammered black Rustoleum and called it good.

Needed some way to hold the hi-lift, shovel and axe for in the bed without having them rolling around. Found the DIY brackets on here and got to work. Also put in the carpet kit from Bed Rug and wired in some LED lights above the win-doors for some lighting.

    Some Interior mods:

Tec-Dek HD series ram mount works awesome for holding cell phones. Anyone who climbs in the truck with me is always super impressed with it and wonder where I got it from. Also did the mirror riser as well. Coming from driving a 3500 Cummins, the windshield is super small in this Tacoma.

    techdek2.jpg mirror riser.jpg

Also had an old rifle bullet band laying around and decided to cut it up for a pen holder. HD velcro works great to hold it on.
