Well that was an easy dash cam install.

Started looking for dash cam today and saw the Dongar usb connector. After reading most of the 32 pages, I’m assuming the Version 2 solved the overheating problem?

Bringing an old thread to life here-
I'm currently running a constant power tap with a voltage regulator on my dash cam, but with the cooler temps it's draining the battery and cutting off via the voltage regulator while the car is parked. I've decided I don't need the always on function anymore and would rather it just cut on with the truck ignition.

What fuse should I use for power on with ignition? I don't have a sunroof, so does that even have power run to it?

    Thanks!

You can use the Dome fuse. Those cameras draw like an amp of power. It will be fine. I had an open fuse under the USB that I used though.

Yes. From what I heard the issue was fixed in the new version.

Which USB cable did you end up going with? Looking at a few 6 inch ones on Amazon and they just look longer than what you have.

    Just speaking for myself here...
I bought 4" and 6" cables when I bought the Dongar adapter. I found the 4" to be too short.. because it always seemed to pull/push on the camera, moving it out of optimal position. I found the 6" cable to be just the right length, without putting any stress or pressure on the camera mounting angle.

Anybody run into problems with the Smart keyless entry system when running a rear cab camera? When I unplug the rear camera, the doors unlock easily with a touch. I know the antenna box is at the rear enter of the roof. I moved the camera wire as far away as possible but no luck. Is there a sheath I can put on the cable or an RF cable available?

Anyone have this installed with a windshield tint? I’m just wondering if the sticky part will ruin or pull off the tint.
I remember awhile ago on my other vehicle I had a gps that was mounted on my windshield using the sticky part and it came off and the tint started creating bubbles.

I had this problem with one of my other cars. The only solution that I could come up with that worked was to move the rear camera to another location. The wire was interfering with the signal from the key. Good luck bc this was a frustrating situation for my install

Hardwired a Garmin 66W dash cam yesterday. Pretty happy with the wiring but I had hoped to be able to place it tucked up behind the rear view mirror out of sight. Unfortunately with the wide angle lens you lose half the picture when mounting it on either side of the big ol’ TSS unit.

I did get that one. Works great. My only complaint is that it could be better at night.
