    Howdy.
I sold my 2018 double cab off-road with cloth and an auto a few years ago ( 11 months after purchase). Been wanting a Tacoma again and last year I test drove a 2019 double cab off-road with the premium package (“leather” and moonroof) and a manual trans. It felt smaller inside, especially headroom (moonroof I’ve read). Decided to pass. Well last week I found a 2021 off-road 2wd with cloth and an auto to test out. Interior felt way roomier. Decided to order a 2021 TRD off-road 4x4 with a manual assuming it’s feel the same interior wise as the auto, just with a manual. I found a 2020 TRD off-road with a manual and premium package near by and decided to go check it out. It felt small too. So my question... is it the year, the premium package or a combination of them that make the cab feel small to me? The 21 with the auto felt bigger than the 19 auto and manual 20, did they change something to make it feel roomier? Do the 21 seats sit lower? Do the leather seats lack adjustability? Thanks in advance.

A moonroof makes a big difference in how much headroom you have.

The 21 would have a power seat.....that would be the only change over 18/19. The moonroof in the premium would reduce head room some.

    Sunroof is taking headroom away.

FWIW, my buddy has 19 OR with cloth, and i got 18 with leather. He said my seats are way more comfortable. I sat in his seats and noticed it too.

They feel a bit firmer, he always complains when we go on long drives(4-5 hours) , i have always felt comfy in my seats. We are pretty much same height and weight. No issues with headroom in mine.

    Just my .05 CAN.

    Check build thread!
Sunroof loses you 2-3 inches of headroom.

IMO, it only makes a difference if you sit very close to the steering wheel.

I think I noticed it because I'm 6'4, and more torso than leg lol.

I only drove the premium models for a few minutes and felt they were uncomfortable. My 2018 cloth and the 2021 test drive cloth felt great. I hope the 21 off-road I ordered feels as good.

At 6’5”, I can’t fit in the truck if it has a moonroof. It is a massive reduction in headroom in this vehicle.

Seats are a pretty easy swap/fix if the cloth ones really don’t work for you.

Luckily I want the cloth. The truck I ordered has cloth but a few other features that aren’t common so that’s why I had to order. The ones I find that fit the bill have a bunch of other accessories I do not want (tube steps, tonneau, etc) and I don’t want to be paying interest on accessories I’ll be removing or don’t want.
