**** Unfortunately we have decided to stop producing these due to the time it takes to print each one and the low demand. Thank you for those who purchased these in the past few months! ****

    Hi everyone,

Trying to figure out what to do for your Tacoma's square storage area/cup-holder?

Here's my latest design - Introducing the ModBox Pro - a modular phone mount system for your 2016-2021 Tacoma's square cupholder. The design allows for you to mount your phone using a magnetic vent mount in a location away from the dash. The base is modular, meaning there will be additional adapters available in the near future, so it's not just a phone mount. The design was also made to keep some storage area open in the square cupholder area (I use the extra space for my wallet usually). I understand that there are many dash-mounts available out there, but my envision for this product was primarily driven by my use of Android Auto and CarPlay. This mount keeps your phone and the cable managed while commuting or while hitting the trails, all while keeping your dash and line-of-sight clear.

    https://www.etsy.com/listing/904934...allery-1-2&organic_search_click=1&frs=1&cns=1

    Features:
    • Modular Design - Additional attachments coming soon!
    • Retains some storage area while using an adapter
    • Strong PETG material for withstanding any high internal vehicle temperature
    • Bring your own magnetic vent mount option. If it's made to work with a vent, it will work with the ModBox Pro.
    • Cable management cut-out for keeping your cable where you need it, when you need it.

    Some common questions I get:
Q: Does it clear the shifter when put into (D) Drive?
    A:
Yes, I designed this around the idea that it should not interfere with the shifter. The only exception would be your phone's size and position you decide to use the vent mount. With a larger phone mounted, you may need to reach slightly around the phone to shift back to park, neutral, or reverse - but it is a minor inconvenience. Without a phone attached, there is no interference at all.

Q: Can I still use the cup-holder behind the square?
    A:
Yes! The cup-holder behind the square is still fully functional and has room for whatever normally should fit. The position of the magnetic vent mount may need to be adjusted depending on what you're putting in the main cup-holder.

Q: What other adapters will be available in the future?
    A:
Right now, I'm working on the SauceMod adapter that will fit a couple of standard BBQ sauce containers (think McDonald's, Burger King, etc...). I have some other ideas in mind, but I am keeping them private for now due to possible idea thieves ;).

Thanks for the feedback! I'll see about a swivel mount idea, but I did have the multi-directional idea in mind for the vent mount. There are actually quite a few angles you can get with the ledge (see pic).

You've got it! I'll let you know if I ever design something for the MT's. My main issue is getting access to one to get measurements, etc... Then there comes the prototyping and testing - You don't wanna know how many printed prototypes it took to get to this point

I don’t like it, simply because it requires you to take your eyes off the road to look at it. Since it’s not a place useful I don’t see the point. My phone can sit on the passengers seat, wireless charger etc. the workmanship is great, I just don’t find it useful.

Appreciate the feedback and opinion! I designed it around using Android Auto which doesn't require me to look at the phone at all, so I just wanted a secure place to keep my phone and cable away from the dash. Not sure how many people have the same mindset as I do, but I figured if I think that way maybe there is a need for it out there somewhere.

In my previous vehicle I had it setup low, so it doesn’t get in the way of the instrument panel which I look at way more than my phone when driving and if you are stopped and need to access its in a predictable location as opposed to sliding around the seat. W the tacoma would work great especially if you are using Apple/Android Play.

Could you make a YouTube video on your product? I'm interested in buying one, would like to see a hands-on video. Awesome craftsmanship! Thanks!

I'm working on a swivel ball type mount right now and should have something to show for it this coming week. I'll keep you posted!

I really like the idea of this, however, I have a question. Would the mount be able to hold a RAM mount? I understand you said "if it can go on a vent, it can go on here!" but the Ram mount would have to be screwed in the lip, thus creating more stress at a higher point on the mount. I think its a really cool idea, but my phone case is a quad lock and i would want to retain that, as its used for bikes and other things.

Great idea! Im interested in learning more.

Good question! This design was made with the slip-on vent mount magnets in mind, not something drilled into it. However, if you have a link to the mount you are wishing to use, I'd like to take a look and see what might be possible in order to adapt it to the ModBox Pro PhoneMod adapter.

    Thanks for your interest!
