Good morning everyone! What I though was a broken iPhone screen was only the glass screen protector!! Win!! Didn't do much of anything yesterday - I haste being cooped in by this cold weather.

Looks like we are in for some snow later today - last I looked the US Weather Office in Binghamton was predicting 4 to 6 inches for us.....hope they are wrong. But, the UTV is ready to go.

    Stay safe and warm.

    Happy New Year everyone.

They could have use a small LP torch to brown it up.

In a dealership never tell anyone you are paying cash until you get into the finance office. Negotiate your best deal with the salesman and do not worry about how many times he has to go to the manager for approval. You can also add some addons free to sweeten the deal, like upgrade floormats and items along this line. Also do not overlook 0% financing, yes I know it is a monthly car payment but you now have free use of their money. Your money can stay invested and work for you.

We purchased our 2017 Avalon with 0% financing over 72 months. The rationale was since the money would be coming out of a 401K plan the tax implications would be less after my wife retired. Face it no matter how you buy a vehicle you will pay tax on the money you spend. One of the reasons any cash transaction over $10,000 has to be reported to the IRS on form 8300.

Everyone have a safe and happy new year.

This post was from Jim who was the first as he put it "old fart" to join in on the 60+ thread. Good guy, but got banned for standing his ground in some of the younger threads. But he said "there won't be but 6 of us". We have had a lot of folks come and go as well as new folks all the time. More than 6 that's for sure. Enjoy the porch.

Thanks, I mostly hover round the second gen threads but do stray from that sometimes.
I found Mazda Miata's to be a pretty amazing car and I had a 91 that I modified into an
Autocross racer. I met some really cool people driving and showing that car at the club events.
I got into the Teflon windows guides because I saw a need that was not being met.
In 2008 I started my garage business making marketing and selling these custom hand milled
guides. And then started to produce complete kits for both doors all in one purchase.
To date I've sold more than 6900 kits in 24 countries around the world and all 50 states plus
Puerto Rico. Nobody on the planet sells these Teflon guide kits but me.
It's nice to be able to say you made something with your own hands that has travelled around
the globe to help someone with a problem and help them solve it.:thumbsup:

Well another beautiful day. A tad bit if fog this morning but it’s already burning off.

No major projects today. That’s the good thing about retirement. You don’t have to squeeze stuff in around your “schedule “.

The plan is to get the truck detailed and the BBQ for dinner. And before anyone asks, no I don’t detail myself. I like working on vehicles but hate washing them.

Welcome to another 60+ member, pull up a chair on the porch.

I started to follow the car porn thread awhile back, one day I got curious and went to page 1 and went through all the postings and now check them every day. There are some awesome cars on there that I really enjoy seeing and give a big  to the guys who contribute to that thread.
Was just thinking, my first 4-Rnr. was a 1985 Granville Conversion, I only ever saw 1 other one like it, the one I had had a lift kit in it and some pretty big rubber on it, (the way I bought it used), and looked like a Tonka Toy. That was a pretty neat little vehicle, don't think I have a pic. of it unless I have one from when we hunted Maine, have to look sometime.

Welcome Jake. Your Miata looks great. I like anyone that pays attention to the small details when modifying a vehicle. Only takes an extra 5 to 15 minutes to clean up the mod and make it look specular rather than sloppy.

Carl: The 4 Runner is on my short list for a replacement vehicle. They sure are tough, rugged, and good looking. I may look for a 2 year old 4 runner in the limited trim or if they make it in a TRD trim.

I don’t have any real sage advice but here’s my thoughts. 7 years ago we moved to a new home we had built. I lived in my previous home for almost 30 years and had acquired in that time an unbelievable amount of stuff. I did not have a business but my garage looked worse that the picture of your shop. I had an executive position but outside of work I’ve always been a work with my hands guy, working on cars, remodeling, building things, lots of different projects. Over the years I acquired a
huge amount of tools, nuts, bolts, screws, washers, and a zillion misc. items. There was no order to it. Looked like an explosion in my garage. I did not worry about moving the stuff. I got rid of a bunch of things before I moved. Then I got a bunch of boxes, crates, buckets, folding plastic crates and other containers and loaded them up with stuff. I tried to keep similar things together. I had boxes of hand tools, containers of power tools, nuts and bolts etc. in zip lock bags I had nuts, bolts, screws etc etc. The bottom line I wasnt concerned with moving all the crap I just wanted to get it all moved any way I could. I had decided once I got it all to my new house/garage the goal was to organize everything. It took me 2 months but now everything is organized and all tool chests, storage containers and every container is labeled. I know where everything is and I can find everything within seconds. Once I got it that way I’ve kept it that way and I love it. So I’m not telling you what to do but my advice is to just move everything however you can with the goal and plan of organizing it once it’s moved. Before you move you can start planning an organization plan, what and how you are going to store things.

Great advice. I want to start step 1 now, even if it makes it just slightly easier to organize at the destination. I am fully on board with what you write I am sick of this temporary rat nest...........15+ years temporary hahahahaha. Thanks!
