Only you can decide, but if you pushed the ground clearance of your lifted Wrangler, you are going to have to lower your expectations of your stock taco. The approach, departure, and break over angles are going to be less. You are going to drag that trailer hitch over everything. That said, I wheel with lifted Wranglers all the time and I think I have just as much fun. At the very least it's nice to be the one guy not in a Jeep. Those Jeep people creep me out sometimes. lol.

Don't mean to clog it up anymore than I already have.

I like the exhaust cross over and how low it hangs. It was audible warning I am getting close to my transfer case.

That might be a good point, but you'd need to be listening and know what you're listening for. I smashed mine up pretty good and didn't even know it was happening until I got home and took a peek under the truck. At which point said audible warning device needed to be taken to the audible warning device repair shop..

Then again, if it's a high pitched noise, I don't hear it at all.

Nah its a low rumble. Makes it sound like you went from diving a tacoma to driving a Honda instantly

Interesting. I was bumping into some shit in the creek crossings, but though it was coming from the LCA's. Maybe that was it..

This is tacoma world so if you don't have a 3in lift with scs wheels, pro grille, and 285 tires your Toyota sucks off road

Crown King rd is a really popular trail here. I did it in a lifted Wrangler a few years back and wouldnt ever think of doing it my tacoma without skids and sliders. I'd put the trail at maybe a 5/6 now a days as the trails even rougher due to the constant abuse from the insane amount of SidebySides here

Based on your assessment, which I am just going to assume is reasonable, I would then say I have never taken my truck on anything tougher than say a rating of about 5.

Been in some hairy situations but definitely nothing with a ton of rocks or deep water.

This is a really good discussion ... with great pictures and good insights ... I hope it keeps going !

I probably won't do a lift but this has me definitely considering sliders ...

I do a lot of off road camping in my stock 2019 OR. Granted a lot of it is on our property and neighboring properties. Im in TN so we deal more with mud/soft ground/ small mountains/hills than large rocks/big mountains. My property has a river bordering 2 sides so we have river rocks everywhere but I do not need a lift to get around and the size of the truck makes it ideal for maneuvering through the trails. I to enjoy the ride of the stock height and I drive a lot (right at 90K miles during almost 2 years of ownership). I'd live with it for a while and see IF you need a lift - as your situation/terrain may differ greatly than mine, but stock is fine for me.
