Wondering if there is anything I need to watch out for? Buying my truck next month...put down a deposit and everything.

should I request that they do something special to help me get this car registered and titled in CA?

any advice is welcome! Thanks guys.

    What would they do special?

Taxes paid are going to be taxes of the state it gets registered in.

They have to send the registration info to the state that it's going to be registered in anyways:notsure:

Do I give this info to the dealer so they can give it to the DMV? Or do I have to take all this paperwork to the DMV myself?

When I picked mine up in Oregon I paid my ca sales taxes and fees based off my zip code at the dealer , they mailed a check to the ca dmv . I had to go into the dmv for a vin inspection , but didn’t need the weight inspection due to I registered it as a permanent modified truck/suv because I have a camper shell and am good with paperwork lol cheaper registration

Being in Nevada, I just bought my truck in Texas two weeks ago. They will do the out of state taxes and title for you. When you get it I to CA, I believe you might have to do a vin inspection though.

Just wanna make sure the dealership mails
The taxes check to my DMV. Once a dealer makes a sale, I assume they have little desire to speak to you further Incase there are issues.

I actually got a call from the tax office yesterday in Las Vegas stating that they have my plates. They told me as soon as I get my letter, I can go pick up my plates.

Any hiccups with the finance company giving the title to you so you can give it to the DMV?
Confused on this process and worried about it being a headache.

The Texas dealer will collect the Calif sales tax. You will need a visual smog "test" once back in Calif. Not a big hassel overall.

You just pay whatever your local sales tax is.

Yeah, no idea how to delete a thread. Wanted to create a specialized thread for buying from Texas specifically, as I’ve been told it’s a little less stringent on Emissions, so I’d thought that it might be a bit different to buy from there as opposed to just generally out of state.

I'm no subject matter expert, but I don't think it will matter where you purchase your Taco. California will have the final say. I believe smog and weight. And any additional sales tax...!!!!! I would think that most dealerships are familiar with the out of State purchase process. You might want to speak with the Finance people at the Texas dealership. Keep in mind that the Finance Office is where the dealership makes its money. They will want to sell you all sorts of add ons.

Not really. The dmv depending on the state will automatically mail the title to the finance company. There are a few states that don’t and your finance company will expect you to mail them the title ASAP if my memory serves me right.
