Where I take issue with the rear drums is despite Toyota dicking around with them for decades the rear e-brake set up is designed to last only in dry climates. To add insult to injury the rear axle bearing and seal design is just trash and is designed to pretty much be a PITA to service.

It's time for Toyota to ditch this crap. The rear axle vent is also trash they've pretty much been using the same part number since 1984.

Put a HD 8 speed AT in it, dump the current variable cam timing / fueling / ignition mapping, and hire a group capable of tuning modern DI/FI engines.

And redesign the "limited slip rear diff" us non-TRD owners have to live with until we install a locker.

Other than that, I absolutely love this truck.

They should put huge signs on the transmission and oil pan so no one can " accidentally" drain the wrong one anymore.

No, just a real limited slip or, oh my, a locking differential.

My Raptor made 675 whp, but it was not usable under 30 mph due to wheel hop.

I'll take usable traction and area under the curve in any vehicle over tire shredding, un-hookable HP.

I think the rear drums should go. Why? Uniformity, the back does not match the front. 4Runner and Tundra work fine with rear discs.
They say drums are better than discs offroad. They also say 99% of OR owners don't take their OR Tacoma off road.

I doubt if Toyota has the offroad market in mind when they claim drums are better offroad even if drums are better offroad.

    Are you overweight by chance?

Never had an issue with the seat not being supportive or a cramped footbox on 12 hour drives.

They're not going to give us anything we want for 4th gen. It needs:
    750w minimum inverter
    no more halogens
Power rear slider and sunroof for access cab
    Second bed cubby/front rail standard
Bumper line that ends where an aftermarket bumper goes instead of under the lights so there's no cutting (but why would they care about that?)
    MOAR power

4 link rear 22” travel (with sway-bar duh)

16” travel up front with working 4wd

redesigned subframe for more strength and higher ground clearance.

stock 35” tires with room for 39” upgrades

1” lower ride height vs the current ride height

Joint venture with one of the major shock brands to develop one 3” coil over per wheel , with active valving control like some of the side by sides have so the truck is street and dirt friendly.

Then and only then can Toyota finally slap the “prerunner” badge on the tailgate (yes it will have a bed too)

Allow manual transmissions with long bed combo.

Maybe re-design the cab mount so that it doesn't need to be chopped in order to fit tires >33".

    Ok I guess I’ll dream...

I want it to be a 3 or 4 liter diesel, it should accelerate like a diesel X5 and get 20 highway mpg with 37s. The ZF 8 speed auto is pretty sweet or a manual transmission with a super low crawl 1st gear. I’ll take solid axles, auto disconnect sway bars and selectable lockers front and rear. I also want the option to fully deactivate all the safety stuff when desired. Also it needs to have a 30 gallon fuel tank so range isn’t a problem. Give me all that and I could over look the rear seat leg room, crappy entune and lack luster speakers.

Basically I want a Tacoma body with a Power Wagon/X5 drivetrain and the wheel tire combo needs to fit any thing as easy as a JK does.
