I imagine that explanation is closely related to the reasons why people actually buy the "showroom eye candy." Dealer specials are the strippers of the car world. Fun to look at, fun to imagine what it would be like, but most of us know better than to take one home.

Heh I lived in the DC area for 10 years. Everyone drove like it was a Grand Prix.

Pretty much everyone there was reckless driving. 55mph on I95 but everyone running 80

Do you have any Tacoma friends locally you can swap wheels with and to do a test run?

Until you get over 80mph, then instead of a speeding ticket it becomes a reckless driving charge in VA and a whole new can of worms.

Speaking of a canned worms, I'm curious if the dealership did a CMC to get those 34 inch tires to fit.

We won't know until OP take pics, or just goes out and trie to stuff-em.
Based on the driving performance, or lack thereof, I'm going place my bets on,,,, No, they did not. I hope I'm wrong, OP has enough problems with his new truck already.

That's the law here, potential penalties for reckless driving include six DMV points, a fine of $2,500, a jail sentence of 12 months, and a license suspension of up to six months. The charge remains on your record for 5 years. If you rack up 8 points you could be dropped by your insurance.

Crap, last year in CA I got a ticket for going 110 and it wasn't considered reckless. In my own defense I was not driving 110 (more like 90 which was the flow of traffic in So Cal that day) and the airplane guy who clocked me actually showed up at court, admitted he wasn't sure I was going 110 (he based the speed on trying to follow me), and said I was in a full-sized sedan (I was in a compact 2-door BMW).. Better yet, the ground CHP said he clocked me at 75 MPH in front of the judge.. yet the judge still found me guilty for going 110! And I was totally respectful and the ground CHP was totally on my side. A $800 fine and my insurance rates went up a ton. I guess I also live in North Korea, too :p Sorry OP for hijacking your thread.

And that's obviously much worse than living under a totalitarian regime where even being suspected of disloyalty to a brutal dictator can get you and your entire family imprisoned for years, tortured or even killed, with no trial, no appeal, no recourse to any justice at all.

I am so glad you 100% agree...Virginia speed limit regulations/punishments = North Korea, torture, imprisonment, hands being cut off for stealing food.. Same place.. Except North Korea has no Covid cases, so there's that.

Haha, that wasn't meant to be taken too seriously just trying to point out the absurdity of likening a stiff penalty for speeding to a brutal dictatorship. And yes, I understand that was just hyperbole, as my post was also meant to be. Guess I forgot to add the:rofl:

Well, none that they will admit to anyway. Still, I think I will take my chances here in the good ol' US of A., even with our draconian traffic laws.
