I was in on the EVGA wait list and would of bought one and painted the shroud. That being said an Asus card came up first for availability and the Gamers Nexus video on EVGAs design sold me on going that direction.

I'm seeing tons of 3070s and 3090s in stock now locally. Memory Express has had stock pretty much every second day. Only the 3080 seems still tough to find.

 

Anyone heard any whispers about when the 3080ti (20gb 3080) is supposed to release?

Probably not. The 3080Ti is just a cut down 3090 GA102, like the 3080. For a while they've been binning all chips that pass as 3080s but fail as 3090s into 3080s. Even chips that are barely failing. Now they'll have another bin to bin those near misses into. So supply won't be great, probably not as bad as it's been, but not great.

If I made a guess the 3080Ti only exists as a cash grab. nVidia wants to make as much as possible off their premium dies and from the lack of 3080s but plenty of 3090s I'd say nVidia is reluctant to sell most of their GA102s as 3080s. The 3080Ti is fake value creation to get more people to spend more money. The people who won't buy a Titan but would of bought a 2080Ti last generation.

As for FE supply, I'd expect it stays bad. Why are you only looking for FE cards? I mean they're good but the Strix, Suprem, and Aorus cards are arguably better from third party testing.

 

I see, makes sense but still a "discounted 3090" would be sweet. I'd pay $1000 for a 3080 with 20gb VRAM especially if it came with a tini clock boost.

I plan to get a 3090 now mainly for the VRAM.

VR eats VRAM like Chrome eats board RAM.

Why a Founders?

Purely aesthetics. It's a phenomenal looking card, and I do like it's half passthrough half pure exhaust true 3 slot design.

That MASSIVE wide open exhaust rear I/O shield puts a happy in me.



I'd also like to go water cooled at some point I would love to 3d print a reservoir that could fill the space left in the shroud of that V notch.

Beyond that it's just a phenomenal looking card that's going to be a classic design for a long time and it would be a fine addition to my collection.

Also good luck finding a card in 2021. Etherium price is over $1k. To put that in perspective, a single 3060Ti can turn profit in about three months now. So an amature farm of 100 could turn some crazy coin in 6 months. Hell I even threw an old 2080Ti in a box to mine some and it's doing $7 a day. It's 2016/2017 all over again.

Etherium favors GPUs over ASICs. Even if you want another coin you're better off mining ETH and converting it to BTC or whatever you want.
