    Yes, this is differential fill plug. Drain is on bottom of pumpkin.
    Toyota recommends checking level of 75w90 oil at 30,000 mi. Intervals and change every 60,000 mi.84752D0E-7B15-4EEA-9698-75DF53EC9F5A.jpg

    OK, thanks. I'm not sure if this gear oil has ever been changed, so I might as well take care of that while I have it apart.

    Fyi that weld job has nothing to do with how powerfull the welder is or if it was flux core or not, that was just bad welding. I did my entire SAS with a 115v flux core welder and 0% of my welds look that and a matter of fact I was blowing through some of the thin wall crap toyota frame metal even with my 115v machine.

    Ok, thanks!.Just added the washers to my Amazon shopping cart. My truck is an automatic. Does it still use 75w90 in the trans or are you just suggesting I change the transmission fluid while I have it apart (with auto trans fluid).

    Cool that you did the SAS conversion. I'm new to the welding space. The only things I ever welded was a new driver floor in my 1978 F250 (since sold) and a new aluminum trailer door/ramp for our horse trailer. Had to use a spool gun on that one. They both seem to work out ok. I was considering buying a table top and some legs and make my own welding table.

    Oops, :D my misteak on the AT vs. MT.
    Some say leave the 1st. gen AT fluids alone other than checking fluid level.
    :thumbsup:
    Definitely don't use 75w90 in AT:annoyed:

    Was going to paint the spare tire crossmember today. The Corroseal has had about 40 hr of drying time. According to the Corroseal FAQ, the product also serves as a self-etching primer, so can I paint over it directly or should I add a coat of primer?

    @BossFan
    No primer needed over Coroseal..
    Top coat frame exterior with paint or Fluid Film inside box members.

    I got the differential coated with Corroseal. Surprisingly, the vent tube and fill plug came out without issue. I also got the driveshaft crossmember cleaned up and Cortoseal’d as well as the driveshaft. Topcoat wide, I got the spare tire crossmember painted as well as the frame rails. It’s not a showpiece for sure, but I think it looks much better and I’m so glad that BDL educated me on how to use a needle gun and also about Corroseal.

    I also removed the brake lines (which did a number on my epoxy floor, but I’ll rant about that later. I ordered some 3/16 line and the M10 fittings, but I realized that when the old ones came out, they have like a rubber coating on them. I’m assuming this is for additional protection, especially when you’re off-roading. Should I just order the stock replacements from Toyota? What’s another $100 at this point? or would the ‘bare’ brake line be ok to use?

    @Boss hoss you got me stunped on the rubber coated brake lines.
    With all the engineering Toyota put into Tacomas I'm sure there's a good reason for it though.
    Keep up the good work.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

    I got one box of goodies yesterday. Tank strap, spare tire straps, LSPV, some hoses and gaskets. My vapor canister, and LSPV bracket (Toyota) and my gas tank (RockAuto) are in transit. Should get here on Monday.

    Nice work so far
    I would recommend coating the bed or the truck with at least the FF if not a CRC/Cosmoline product before putting the liner back on.

    Will do. Still have to figure out how to do a bit of rust repair where the mulch created that hole. Do they sell bed patch panels?

    Put the crossmembers back in today. They want $300 to ship me the brake lines via freight. I’m going to see if I can get them from any dealers up here in NJ
