    Hello,

I really need some help, I feel like I'm going out of my mind for lack of possible reasons my Dad's 2006 Tacoma, starts normally but will not rev above 1500 rpm, the van was working perfectly fine, until we decided to fix a crack on where one of the engine mounts was, to fix it properly it had to be welded on both sides so the engine had to be taken out of the vehicle, when the welding was completed and the engine was place back in the van, it started one go and idled fine but as soon as we revved it we only got 1000 RPM, we floored the pedal and went to 1500 RPM, we also got an engine check light showing the code P2118 TPS Current after it was scanned, an electrician tested everything he found nothing wrong, so he cleared the code and we tried to rev it again still 1500 RPM and the check engine light came back on, we got several throttle bodies to test it with and same thing happening, we got a new pedal same thing happening, we tried to retrain the TPS sensor and nothing, I have no idea what else to try. Please Help.

    Thanks in Advance,

    Rickster

If the engine was removed I'd give the wiring harnesses a good look over for pinched/broken wires, also check the ETCS fuse in the engine bay fuse box. I hope whoever welded it was mindful of ground placement so it wasn't grounding thru something it wasn't supposed to.

Have you checked the ETCS fuse?
    It’s located under the hood.

Hey DM93 and TnShooter, thanks for the quick response, @Dm93 yeah the electrician check all the grounding points on the van, I'll take your advise and recheck, but first I'll talk to the welder guy to see if he might have covered a a critical grounding point and see.

@Dm93 and @TnShooter thanks for the diagram, and we checked the ETCS fuse and it was good and even when a step further to replace the fuse with a brand new one and still nothing.

Does either of you guys have an electrical wiring diagram for the 2006 Tacoma, where I can see all the grounding points.

    Thanks again in Advance,

    Rickster

Are you calling a Tacoma a "van"?
