I haven't run mud tires probably since 2005. I got a wild hair and decided to give some mud tires a go 15 years later. I don't need them (SoCal) but I love how aggressive they look and I must have forgotten their street behavior. I wasn't too worried about mileage or street handling which is a known shortcoming with M/Ts compared to A/Ts. My truck is a daily driver on the roads and is a toy for me.

They lug at low speeds which translates to an annoying vibration anytime you stop/go. That means from 0-5MPH or 5-0MPH, your truck is going to vibrate in the cabin as the tire rolls between lugs. No bueno for a daily driver.

At freeway speeds, they are smooth but they have a humming which causes you to turn the radio up. This is a known thing. I wouldn't say it is particularly annoying UNTIL the tire's humming frequencies get off slightly causing a very annoying resonance in the cab. This happens as the tires wear, so you may not hear it right away.

If you have a choice, ride in a friend's truck with mud tires before you commit if you aren't sure.

I'm pulling these off and going with R/Ts. I think the R/Ts are going to be the tire of choice moving forward for me. 3-4 companies offer then and they are starting to get more popular; they have an aggressive look but the lugs are close enough together and there is enough tire footprint to roll smoothly and much quieter than M/Ts. Aggressive looks with an A/T personality.

The number one reason for TW tire purchase choices for 82.4% of the owners. Don't have to be mudders. Just look 'aggressive'.

Along with lots of other stuff.

Yup. Most if not all mods here I see are cosmetic and I'm not hating on it. For every 100 guys that mounts methods, a lift, lights etc, it's one guy in a bone stock Tacoma that is pushing his truck's limits on the stock goodyears and crawling up the mountain.

35" AMP MT-A - they balanced well and ride nice minus the complaints I made originally.

I would put MT/Rs on my Tacoma if I at all drove roads that did this to tires.

I have Goodyear MT/Rs on a Jeep and they just keep going forward in mud, muck, sand, and clay/sand mix, and self clean very well. I don't mind a little more road noise for the added confidence (and at about a 10% loss in mpg).

I'm running Toyo open country mud terrains and a Detroit locker on my 02 DC Pre Runner and its my daily driver . My Camaro I'm running drag radials and a spool

No issues with driveability in either one
