255/85/16 are IMO the best tire for an IFS 1st gen tacoma. So many advantages over the others.

 

That's slander, everyone knows 40's is the way to go.

 

AND tons.

 

I'm looking real hard at 255/75/17s. Its an inch shorter, but it seems like it'll be a good combo with my 4.30 gears.

 

On the Taco, definitely a beefy looking tire.

On the 4R, feel like they're not big enough.

 

Thinking I’m going to run them next on the double cab. Cooper STT MAXXs measure to 32.8 when some others go up to 33.3. Pinch weld mod doesn’t look too bad compared to firewall tubing for 35s.

nothing wrong with that, it is a pretty practical size for the majority of people
