No, the needle bearing discussed is in the front differential. No 4x4=No front differential. Similar symptoms from the front of 2wd usually end up being wheel bearings.

to those who are surprised that their needle bearings are going out with low mileage trucks, the needle bearing design is an inherent flaw. with a factory lift it almost never shows anywhere even after a hundred thousand miles. But it does happen. With the lift you're putting a lot more stress on your CV angles which showcases the flaw in the needle bearing design.

Toyota have claimed this is the last truck they'll build using this design but we'll see what actually happens with the fourth generation taco.

The ECGS bushing is a simple and easy fix and honestly should be incorporated from the factory.

The shop I had mine lifted at wants to do a diff drop to try and correct. They drove mine and couldn't feel or hear mine. Would dropping back down help this. I originally set my 6112s at 4/3 (1" of lift) on the setting and had no problem. I had them set at 6/5 (2" of lift) with UCAs and got the vibrations on the front left now. May have them drop it to 5/4 (1 1/2" of lift) on the settings as opposed to doing a diff drop.

Try a carrier bearing spacer first. Then try up to 3° axle shims.

If you don't wheel or off-road much, a diff drop might help as well. If you do off-road, a diff drop is nothing but bad news.

Yea it kinda sucks. I don't really want to dive into all this stuff. May have them lower it back to 5/4 and have an 1 1/2" lift all the way around. Hopefully that will make ot go away.

Good Luck bro. Keep us posted it will get fixed. It’s the name of the game when we mod our trucks. The price we pay.
Again Good luck it will be fixed.

Yea I know. I don't really want to dive into replacing the needle bearing on a brand new truck. I think I'm gonna have them drop the lift back to an 1 1/2" and hope that corrects the CV angle to correct the vibration and not do the diff drop.

I just ordered the ECGS bushing and CV seal. Going to have a local transmission shop do the install. Hopefully this fixes the issue. I'll keep ya'll posted.

Thanks for all the help on this.

Did you confirm the symptom by driving it in 4Hi and the vibes went away?

Not saying the bushing wouldn't be needed later but have you confirmed the needle bearing is the problem in THIS case?

I guess I should have stated that. Yes, issues goes away in 4H. I'm hoping the ECGS bearing will fix it!

I confirmed mine as well. Just went and drove it. Same road both directions. I had the hum and vibration both directions until I put it into 4x high. Then it went away. I'm dropping my lift back to an 1 1/2" so hopefully that will correct the Cv angle enough to not hum and vibrate. I only drove 200 miles since I bumped it from 1" to 2". Made an appoint for the 7th of Jan to bump it back down. I don't want to deal with replacing the needle bearing just yet. I'll have an 1 1/2" lift all the way around, which will look fine with my 265/75/16 and make it so I can't put 285s on haha. Gclyne good luck with the ECGS fix.

Some people pay extra for a little vibration. See if your wife wants you to fix it first...

seems like dropping back down might fix it but, your only delaying the inevitable. when you go to drop the shock/coils your going to be half way to replacing the ECGS bushing.

I know but I'm not incline to tear the rest apart. Not my expertise. I can wrench to a certain point, but may be a little over what I want to tackle.

Decided to keep the lift at 2" up front. Ordered my ECGS bushing last Monday, had it in hand on Wednesday. @Superdave1.0 installed on Saturday. No more vibration!!

I would install an ARB carrier bearing drop kit. Very cheap and easy to install. Helped mitigate some vibration I was getting after my lift.

Nice! I think I’m having vibrations due to the bushing... how ínstense were vibrations for you? Was it consistent on the freeway and on the street? Just trying to diagnose what is going on with mine lol
