I've been looking for a dashcam. How do you like it? Are there any monthly fees?

No monthly fees, you don't even have to use the Garmin Drive App. I have used the app a few times, sometimes it is a bit finicky. But pulling the micro SD card and popping it in my phone or computer is easy enough to review the footage if needed.

Do they have a cloud option or is it strictly SD card based?

Your phone or other smart device with the app installed is the brains of the operation for any connectivity. The dashcam connects to the phone via WiFi Direct for viewing video or live feed. So you basically have to be sitting in the truck to use those features. From there you can export video via email or connected cloud storage I believe.

If you have it set up to record while parked you will get a notification when you get back to the truck if the camera recorded any motion. Not entirely useful if say, someone broke into your truck unless they were dumb enough to leave the camera/sd card. But it is a nice reminder to do a walk around of the truck and look for door dings etc.

The seats are simply awesome! Since I'm 6'5" 220 lbs I ordered the XL version and my wife the normal one. We both have aging backs and we're worried about them while sitting extensively on our trip. We could sit all day in them and hop out and feel great. Compared to stock seats they're quite firm but who cares, we're after comfort. They don't have side impact air bags but function with the front airbags.

I've been looking at dash cams/security cams (owl cam). I'm just not sure if it's worth the extra cost of the subscription fee's and it seems like you may have to run some sort of battery backup directly to the camera to prevent battery drain.

Having traveled extensively through the west visiting many special places it’s dismaying to see this. We went to Petroglyph National Monument outside of Albuquerque which did not allow people within 40’ of the beautiful petroglyphs, presumably because of previous resource damage by idiots

This one, (proving aliens have visited us previously, BTW!) had to be taken with a telephoto lenses
    92175AD7-0A67-4138-8147-DBBF0C1AA8A7.jpg

But in a much less well-known site (happy to share the southern NM site, just PM me) there are trails leading right up to them.

4582F260-31E9-43A4-8B60-E5584078EB48.jpg Don’t worry, fingers are only for scale, we didn’t touch them. As a result of this close encounter we felt very privileged.

We all need to take personal responsibility or things will be taken away. That being said I hope that what Tacomabeast allegedly did was repaired as best can be. Doing this is a great way to destroy a reputation/business, whoever did it.

Coming down from my soapbox now

I think the Garage Door button mod is on my build page but I just soldered the push switch to my garage door opener. Just takes a couple seconds. That way nobody can grab the opener off my visor and have full access to my house.

The scoop light was one of the first prototypes from a guy on Instagram. Search SpartainXCustoms. He now does bumper light bars and ditch lights I believe.

It is an older Yakima Cargo Box. I tried looking around to see if I could find the exact mode number but wasn't able to. I scored it off Craigslist a few years ago for 150 bucks. Its been worth it!

Seriously? Would you really pay a monthly fee to access your own dashcam?

    What a ridiculous idea.

For those of you looking at dash cams I've got an Aukey DRA2 mirror front/rear dash cam device with 128gb micro SD that I'm looking to offload. Posted in audio/video section too. 75$ usually 89.99 and it's new in box never used only opened to inspect.
