    Hey everyone,

I’m new to the tacoma world, I just got my first taco 2021 SR5 4x2 and like most of you wanted to have a more aggressive look. I’m in no shape or form a hardcore off roader. Yesterday, I had these 285 75 16 installed on my stock wheels and they are now rubbing on the uca on sharp turns only. I figure these will be a problem.

I also had Bilstein 5100 installed all around with an add a leaf in the rear.

would just wheels spacers be sufficient for what I need or should I upgrade my ucas? I’m a little in a budget of course so I’m trying to keep costs low. I’d take any recommendations for either good wheel spacers and ucas!

    thanks!

You’ll need spacer if you’re not getting different wheels. The spacer will fix the rubbing the uca issue but more than likely will cause a rubbing issue on the fender and cab mount so be prepared for that. You may need ucas to get proper alignment numbers if you have 2.5-3” of lift.

Thank you, I’m getting 1 1/4 spacers put in soon. Even if I start rubbing i dont think it will be by much. Heard good things about spidertraxs, so I might go with them

I've got 285/75/15 's (stock rims) on my 98 4runner and i get a fairly aggressive rubbing on the UCA's at full steering lock. Had them for 7 years now and sure they rub a bit but i'm rarely at full lock. It's far from ideal but if you're only rubbing there I wouldn't make this a huge priority if you're on a budget. You're not going to break anything in a significant way imho. Take some time and save up for smaller UCA's, or a spacer. But if you space it - you may clip the body/fender.

You’re gonna rub. Your adding an 1 1/4 negative backspace. That will change the scrub radius entirely. The question will be how bad. Each truck is different. Some less some worse. If you don’t plan on getting ucas have your alignment guy get as much caster out of the factory ucas as possible. Good luck and keep us posted.

Got the spacers in and it feels and drives better. I do rub a little on the plastic fender only when in full turn and hitting a bump of going up or down a driveway.

I have doubts that when I got my bilstein 5100 put in the guy never really aligned it. The steering wheel tends to push slightly to the right when on the freeway. I’m new to all of these, so any recommendations are welcomed.
