One thing I would check, I didn't want to pull my speaker boxes is the rear window. On the outside make sure all the seals are not cracked.

After looking a saw what looks like flex seal over spray. I'm thinking the previous owner tried an "out of warranty home Depot repair". If its the back window seals that's an easy fix. I've only has the truck 4 days and didn't notice it when I bought it. It was pouring rain that day and didn't leak. It must have to be in a certain situation to present

Crap. Too bad my first post to this forum is on a negative note. First heavy rains last night. Had my new 2018 4drOR for about 2 months now, today (July 14th) the door ajar for the passenger front wouldn’t turn off. After looking around found water had dripped on passenger side mat, carpet was slightly damp and found water under door sill plate where wires are. More water found up into cavity towards firewall. Wtf! Door ajar problem obviously from shorted connection from water. This was first Tacoma, huge $, hoping I could dodge problems I had read in pre purchase research. Bringing in dealer in 2 days. Any ideas? Definitely not clogged A/C drain. A lot of wires through that door channel.

Since it's new and under warranty I'd not mess with it. Why give the dealer a chance to say you made it worse. Bring it back and give them a chance to fix the wiring and fix the root cause. JMO

That’s the plan, no touch, I’ve just looked. Now (next day) it’s dried up and the door ajar alarm is off and not shorting out.

Just FYI .... Possibly the door striker latch may need adjustment? When the door is closed there should be very little movement if the door is pushed closed from the outside. Also check to see if the light goes out when the door is pushed/pulled on slightly . Regardless I'd let the Dealer do his thing ...

Mine did it once. Changed third brake light and fixed leak. Mine was never in firewall just the floor. Hasn't done it again. Let us know what they find

After taking off the door kick plate there was noticeable water. That channel goes up towards the firewall and there was water up in that area which is under the dash. So maybe it’s some kind of loose seal or grommet? It was made on a Friday, 5/18/2018. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Don't let water pooling in the rear floor board automatically make you assume it leaking toward the rear somewhere.

Water will flow under the carpet and pool at the lowest point...generally the rear floor board.

I've seen firewall leaks that showed zero evidence of actually leaking because the only byproduct was a wet rear floor.

    Check it all

Well I don’t know if this is the answer for any of you, but I had a big water leak problem in my truck a while ago. Water all over front and rear passenger side floors. It basically started all the sudden, and only came with rain. Long story short, there’s a bolt to the inside of your fender that holds the antenna (on the passenger side only of course) from being loose, it had somehow wiggled out and pulled the antenna wire which pulled the grommet plug out of the firewall (i am assuming), allowing the leak. It took me a quite a while playing with a garden hose to figure this out. To get to the grommet you have to remove your front fender, which was a bit of a pain, but once I sealed that up nice and tight I was good to go.

Mine showed up there only when it rained and truck backed in driveway on slight decline. Water hose and patience found mine. I'm still not sold on that being THE source but rather a source

Toyota discovered faulty drain tube from the sunroof tray. Ordered new one to be replaced.

Anyone figure this out, I know this is old thread but, my sons 2013 is leaking water somewhere, first noticed wet under the rug passenger side, but now could be coming from back/ which we think we narrowed it down, but every time we think we got it, winds up being, nope!! Now it's a maybe from the back, near the door, but not sure if it comes from the back window area and then runs near the door, eventually towards the front. Very frustrating, think we will try the hose thing, so many places it could come from

On the outside of the back of the cab, Toyota has been known to over due the seam seal process. After a few years, the sealant gets brittle and the excess falls off. This can create a leak. A week after I purchased my truck used, I found my passenger floor soaked after a heavy rain storm. The water runs from the back of the cab through the bottom door sill and then settles at the lowest point which is the pass side floor. I was lucky it happened right after I bought it because the Toyota dealer covered it. They had to pull the bed off. The body shop manager said he has done a bunch of these. The seal it from inside and outside. The did paint the back of the cab white again as well to cover up the grey sealer.
