3rd gen 4runner? If so what year? 96 & 97 were known for hg issues but 98 and up weren't. Any coolant mixing with oil? Excessive smoke out the tailpipe? Might also want to have a hydrocarbon test done. I would pressure test the cooling system for leaks. Could be a leak at the back of the motor and dripping on the exhaust crossover pipe.

Another step closer, just waiting on some new TPMS and maybe UCAs to go on at the same time.
My rigs’ gonna look great in the Target parking lot.

    That is really true...

Thanks, it’s the little things. I had new center caps with Hylian Crest decals for the wheels but lost the decals somewhere.

I have the same F5's on my lifted 4runner. I just cleaned and painted mine with high heat black paint. Its holding up pretty good. Of course my runner is usually always muddy from these mountain roads at my cabin so it's hard to tell.

Hey Ronnie, that high heat paint is a matt finish and all you have to do is touch it with your fingernail and it leaves a mark. If you don't care about that then no big deal. You should look at a acrylic type paint if you want a little more protection. Rustoleum makes a great farm implement spray paint but Tractor Supply has this on sale and it might be heavier duty.

A '99 Limited, there's a bit of smoke at idle, I didn't notice it looking like someone vaping..

I have a HC test kit, I'll try it in the A.M. when the motor is cold then again when it's up to temp. I didn't see any contaminated oil a few days ago when I checked during a fill up. I know that there's the known issue of the gasket failing where the coolant passes through the TB at the heat exchanger for a quicker warm up, the gasket will allow coolant to be sucked into the motor. I'll know a bit more tomorrow.

If it's a HG, maybe I can trade it for an 80 series... :D

This pic is about 2 years old, nothing has changed other than a bit more mileage on it.
