Hi everyone. My Dad passed away four years ago and left me his prize possession, his 06' toyota tacoma v6. I'm doing my best to keep it up but something is happening to it that I just can't afford. It's the clear coat. It's coming off BAD!!!! The roof is completely gone and the front finders are peeling bad and now under the window is bubbling up. It looks as if it's been close to a fire or something. What can I do? Is there any recalls on the 06 for the clear coat? God I hope so. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks

Sorry to hear about your dad.

If there were a recall, it would be out of date by now.

You could post pics for a little more info but I don’t see much advice headed your way on here - maybe stop in a few local collision repair shops and jaw about it with a painter.

I am sure it’s fixable, and with the truck’s history with your father who passed, I hope you can get it taken care of.

Welcome aboard and good luck sir

Thanks. My Dad was in the Air Force and retired from Kentucky Power Company. He was a great man. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

    PlastiDip
a cheap way to cover the clear coat peeling and keep the sun from damaging it further without getting it repainted, is plasti-dip. I did this on an old pickup where the roof was failing but didn't want to change the originality of it. the plastidip has held up fine for several years no problem.
