I saw an illustration in a book called practical blacksmithing about how an anvil is sectioned for forging so I decided to give it a whirl (on a very small scale). It started out as a 5/8” square rod just under 2” long.

That is so cool. I can’t believe it started out as a 5/8” square rod

I go in week long streaks where I won't eat anything between supper the night before and lunch

    Or

I have one of the protein drinks around 9-10.

That's not to say that I don't like pancakes, eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy. I love them. I just have time to make them and I'm sure as hell not getting up any earlier!

Regarding flying - I love it. Not so much the flying part itself, but it's a means to an end for something else, usually enjoyable.

My last flights were February '20 to Hawaii for my wife's conference and December '19 to New Orleans. Issue free for both.

March '19 we were going to Cancun, made it to Chicago with a 40 minute layover. We were still waiting for a gate when our next plane took off. Thankfully they got us on the next flight so we only lost a few hours.

Rewind waaay back, my mom and I flew from Fargo to Columbus, Ga to visit family. She flew back a few weeks before I did so I made the trek home alone.

    I was 13.

What they were thinking letting me navigate the busiest airport in the US (Atlanta) all by myself, I have no idea.

The layover in Minneapolis was like 20 minutes and we got in late. I had already checked the map for what gate we were landing and departing from so I knew where I needed to sprint to. Got there just as they were closing the door.

I had a hell of a time, though. No way I'd let my kids do that.

I love flying for flying's sake. And I enjoy the destination.
