i have a 12 double cab prerunner as my daily driver and it whistles until I’m ready to pull my hair out!! I can’t find it so I’m assuming at this point it’s the seal in the windshield is leaking or something. Is still has the factory windshield. I just inherited this truck about a year ago from my grandfather who I took to buy it new in 13.

Anyone ever had an issue like this? Dont really want to pay to pull the glass and reinstall if it’s something else

There are lots of threads about wind noise around the door seals, and some fixes. I would look there first.

Door seals, I had that issue with my 05 and my 14. New door seals fixed my problem.

If it sounds like a kazoo add a piece of blue painters tape along the entire top of windshield covering the seal and see if it stops. Not enough sealer used on install at factory if that's it and dealer will reseal free - if not lift up the top edge of the seal and add silicon into space. A glass shop knows the problem and can fix quickly also. When mine cracked and I put a new windshield in you could see the lack of sealant in there under the glass and the installer knew the problem and did a full sealant application before dropping the glass in.

I tack down the highway like I'm sailing a boat, not the safest option and it seems to upset other drivers but it works.

I believe there is also a TSB for door seals on the double cabs, it's for a "reed/buzz" type noise.

Yea I contacted my service advisor friend to see if she could pull some string and possibly get it covered..... FAIL!!

I’m gonna try covering different areas with tape (windshield, hood, door seals) and see if one stops it and try replacing that seal

OK, first answer this. Is it a faint tea kettle whistle, or a kazoo sound.

Once answered I can tell you what it is.

Per someone else's suggestion, I used some rubber vacuum tube and pushed it into the gap/void on the front face of the seal. I used about a 40" long piece (that's what I had on hand) and centered it equally using the rear-view as my center point. Stretching the tube makes it thinner and easier to install. Some said to use soapy water to help install it.

It worked, the noise stopped and I have since removed tubing and the kazoo noise has not returned. Probably due to the seal aging and becoming less pliable.

    There are a few sounds.

    1 faint tea kettle whistle

    and 2 kazoo.

As response to my post above.

Faint Tea kettle whistle has to do with the gasket at the top of the grill center where it meets the hood (about 3 foot long). Put a piece of 1/4in dripper pipe inside the gasket and the tea kettle whistle will go away.

1st kazoo sound is the windshield gasket. This is easily diagnosed by a change of pitch / stopping of the sound when you push on the windshield while its happening.

2nd kazoo sound is the door seals, not easily diagnosed, but easily fixed with again some 1/4in dripper pipe laid inbetween the folds of the door seal.

This fixed mine, I finally got around to putting the 1/4” tube in the seal at the top of the grill between the hood and it did the trick. Thanks.

I had a "kazoo" sound at speeds above 40 mph. Checked all the door seals. Found the seal on the left rear door of the Access Cab to be damaged.

Ordered the part from Toyota. Pulled off the old piece, snapped on the new piece......."kazoo" plays no more.

Check your door and window seals. Any damage or stiffness or deformation will sound off crying for attention.
