Where did you get the front springs from? How do you like the composite rear leaves? Sound very similar in lowering height as the Tundra Racing kit at 1.5 front 2.00 rear. What made you go the way you did?

I bought my suspension parts from XII Performance a few years ago. They slowly faded away and shut down maybe almost 2 years ago just selling off what they had left in stock. I'm not really into slammed vehicles so I just lowered about 2" to close the wheel gap then when I got tires and wheels I closed the gap some more and ended up getting higher off the ground..... If I parked next to another X-Runner I will be the same height if not higher. The composite leafs are great not only lighter but handle better than OEM. There used to be 2" steel drop leafs, but I missed the group buy.

I am the same way... I do not prefer slammed trucks but one that have a sportier suspension for performance and the look by closing the fender wheel gap. To me, the stance makes or breaks the ride.

The project is coming along slowly. Removed the engine and transmission this weekend, also removed the bed.14568723564552585.jpg 9736444783.jpg

Had time to work on the project, today. Stripped lots of the interior to lighten the load, so that we can pull the cab off the rolling chassis. I think I disconnected everything that would prevent this lift from happening. Hopefully if all goes well, we may be able to remove the cab from the chassis next weekend. The project is creeping along.

Nice!! I took mine apart to paint but didn’t remove the cab and I left the engine bay black. Behind the cab and door jams were painted too

It thought I was going to pull the cab off the chassis next weekend but my great friends pushed me into knocking it out in this great weather this weekend. It took 6 of us to lift the cab with most of the interior stripped out and the driver and passenger front doors pulled off. We lifted the cab off the chassis and carried it about 30 feet to place it on a wood platform that I built with the same dimensions as the frame (for the most part).

Thanks for the positive words. It is a big project. I was able to get more stripped off the X-runner frame today ... except for the gas tank. I should be able to knock that out tomorrow. Once I get that done, I am going to start prepping the frame for the POR15 coating. Then I can start rebuilding the frame for the swap.EAE6C4B8-E355-4B7B-9937-76AB8E4FDF6B.jpg

I had a little change in the project. I was going to prep the frame and use POR15 system to paint and protect the X-Runner frame before doing the swap. I hand washed the frame with dish soap... then I pressure washed it… then I used a hand brush to apply/ scrub on the POR15 degreaser and water mixture to get more contaminants off the frame… then I used a sponge to apply/ scrub a second round of the POR15 degreaser and water mixture before painting it to make sure it is a good surface for the POR15 paint to stick to. I then started to use a wire wheel and side grinder to knock off any spots I was not happy with. This took all day and I still had to use POR15’s metal prep process on the whole frame. Then I could start painting the frame with the POR15 rust preventive permanent coating and once that was done, I would have to apply the POR15 Top Coat Semi-Gloss paint to protect the POR15 rust preventive permanent coating from the UV rays. My guess, is that it would have taken me at least 2 to 3 more days to do all this. I spent about $350 on 2 bottles of degreaser, 2 bottles of metal prep, one gallon of rust preventive permanent coating, 6 spray cans of semi-gloss top coat paint, and some painting supplies. That night, I spent some time online researching the cost of media blasting the frame (to make it easier on myself and shorten the prep time of the frame). At this time, I found out how reasonable powder coating really is. So, I changed my mind and decided to powder coat the X-Runner frame. I dropped off the X-Runner frame Tuesday at a local powder coating company that is going to do the entire frame, front sway bar, rear sway bar, tranny crossmember, X-Runner factory brace, and some our factory braces to the frame for $700 cash and that included complete media blasting everything and plugging of threaded holes before powder coating everything semi-gloss black. So, I returned all of the POR15 stuff that I had not used (about $300 worth). They are telling me that I should have it back Friday afternoon … so about 3 days for them to do all of this. I just figured it is a good time to take care of that X-Runner frame before the swap and prevent any rust problems in the future.

The X-Runner frame right before it left to the powder coat. A little bit of surface rust (not bad for a 2006 chassis) but that will be all gone with the media blasting.
