I am planning on getting a new set of tires. I want to replace the stock tires with 265/75r16 Cooper Discoverer LT (E-rated). Do i have to replace the spare tire as well? Would it be ok to keep the existing spare tire (which is the stock version) and use it temporarily along with the E-rated Coopers in case of a flat? I understand there is a significant weight and size difference between stock and cooper LT tires.

If you're just driving around on road 100% of the time with 2WD it'll be fine. Doesnt matter if theres a difference in size it'll just look funky.

You're supposed to have the same size tires in 4wd though.

5-tire rotation is a pain, because of the TPMS. (The ECU only stores information for 4 sensors.) If you do this, you have to reprogram the system each time.

If you're not off-roading much, dispensing with the spare entirely might be a viable option. Just carry an air compressor and a puncture repair kit.

What if the sidewall is punctured? You cant repair a sidewall.
